Perhaps I am mistaken, but I feel that with the advancements in internet speeds and hardware over the years that some of the old "load on demand" features of EVE are long over due for a change...
As the subject states.
Remove the load button on the wallet, the task for client to ask for an update should be tiny now compared to what people have available for bandwidth and computer power.
Why: just one less thing for people to push/click in-game. A minor feature long past its prime. Yet, above all, it would just be nice.
Thank you!

please keep the load button so it only loads when i want it to load.
but having it auto load the wallet for that day when you open it wouldn't be bad |

Yet not all of us have such nice connection speeds. When I play at work, for example, I play on the cheapest internet connection my boss can possibly get. It is literally one step above dial up speeds, just fast enough to run EvE. In fact, if I try to stream music from soundcloud, EvE sockets out every time. Considering it is quite unlikely that I can get the boss to upgrade our internet just so I can play EvE, I'd rather it stay the low bandwidth it currently is.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.

This thread is now one liner stupid ideas. Oh wait we already have one of those.
I will tell you why this is bad.
It taxes the servers more than it needs to due to wallet entries refreshing before you select the section you want refreshed. So yeah it does kill hamsters.
EvE-Mail me if you need anything.

This is sorely needed for all instances where there is an additional "Load" button that needs to be clicked. The additional server load to produce a line of text is pretty non-existent, considering the percentage of times the wallet is opened and the "Load" button is *not* clicked (most likely as close to 0% as you can get, statistically). That is to say, almost never does someone open the Wallet and *not* click "Load" at least once, so that server load is already there. This is just doing it without asking, which--frankly--should have been the way since the beginning. Connections weren't that bad in 2003, either.
And honestly, to the user who is complaining about playing at work, you should be working instead of playing EVE. CCP shouldn't give any weight to suggestions from people trying to play in such underhanded and counterproductive ways. If you want to play EVE, go home and play. It's most likely against your work place's code of conduct or contract for you to be doing what you're doing. |

This isn't about connections to the server or to your computer: it's the database queries required to get the data. I'd guess it's not the lightest of loads due to the amount of data being pulled.
If CCP deems that on-demand loading is required (same with dscan not getting a hotkey to activate) then it's probably because it'd be detrimental to the servers not to have it. The cooldown between requests is there to mitigate the load.
If you think that your wallet is light on requests per click, some people might end up easily in the tens of thousands in the 60-something day period CCP currently spits out on a single request. A mid-grade database server with proper SSD's can spit out 10 000 first queries with 8 columns in around 4 seconds, I'm fairly sure I saw CCP running proper DB servers which would probably drop the time to around 0.03 - 0.2 seconds. Now imagine 20 people fetching at the same time every second due to instant loading or no cooldown on the button; you're stuck on an overloaded DB server or it'll just spit out errors. |

This isn't true, a lot of the time I open my wallet to look at orders, or only at transactions. If this loaded automatically I would be doubling at least my load on the server (can't remember if 'my orders' needs loading or pre loads) And increasing my wait time while it loads information I don't care about right at the moment. |
