What do you people make of this ship?
Would it be a reasonable training for a newbie, can it rat in nullsec, is it suitable for small scale PVP with low end skillpoints? Any information would be appreciated. I'm hoping to learn "experienced thought" as well so reasoning is more than welcome.

I can't fly it yet, but from what I understand even with brilliant skills, its fittings are very tight, esp on the cpu front. I'd advise against going straight for it as a newbie, the training plan with majority 4's and maximising destroyer would still be a fair whack. and the ship itself would make for an expensive lossmail early on.

pretty sure it can easily rat in null, as for low sp fighting it's far too new to be able to make judgements about that.
I would say as a t3 ship it's not going to be as good without maxed skills (same can be said about any ship really but especially true for higher tier ships).
it flies like a larger succubus with more micro, ie range dictation with almost immunity to scrams due to almost all fits being 10mn AB |

Creepy...
But just to reiterate what they said, It's a nice ship WHEN you're skilled up properly to fly it. Lvl 5 tactical dessi and lvl 4 - 5 in all the necessary module skills or you're just a hefty loss mail waiting to happen. A T1 cruiser can handle the the rats as well as a Confessor and in PvP you'll just be painting a big red target on your forehead. Not a good idea if you aren't skilled and fit properly.

It is pretty fun but for that price tag get something more useful like ONI or something. 100mill+ for dessy I was not impressed.

it is a little expensive for a new player and also not easy to use. The modes change your ship stats on the fly, means for example that you have to remember your optimal ranges for all ammo types once for sniper mode on and once for sniper mode off. And learn when tank mode is the right choice instead of speed mode etc. Other ships don't have this additional complexity layer (beside marauders).
But its an awesome ship for sure, if you manage to master it you will be able to pull off crazy stuff. Skill barrier is also fairly low.

great ship, bit expensive at the moment, 50-60 ish price range would be acceptable, not nubie friendly by any means though.

I have yet to play with 10mn fits. Looking forward to that. On 1mn fits, I find they are still pretty squishy, so I prefer using beams and staying 80km away (you'll still get great damage application at this range even with aurora...). You can fit your utility mod with either expanded probe, or if you want to play it safe you can put a cloak there. In sniper mode your scan res will still be over 400 so that's not too shabby.
Mode use is pretty simple. Undock in armor mode. If its safe, switch to prop mode. Generally stay in this mode until you are warping to a ping on the battle grid. Switch once you've landed and confirmed you don't have to warp out (if someone is too close to you). Stay in sniper mode until you need to warp off, and then switch to prop mode. |

Honestly this ship is great, I even think is a little bit too much powerfull.
I'm only 2.3 \m sp with cpu and powergrind skills at 3 and i can fit that :
[Confessor, Confessor -] Corpii C-Type Small Armor Repairer Upgraded Adaptive Nano Plating I Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink
1MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II Optical Tracking Computer I, Optimal Range Script
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Standard S Small Focused Beam Laser II, Standard S Small Focused Beam Laser II, Standard S Small Focused Beam Laser II, Standard S Small Focused Beam Laser II, Standard S Small Focused Beam Laser II, Standard S Automated Targeting Unit I
Small Capacitor Control Circuit I Small Ancillary Current Router I Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
for around : 220 dps at 53km range
The heat sink faction are here for can fit the Small focused beam II, if you put heat sink II you can only fit the dual beam II.
Just for say with that i do with no trouble all the lvl3 security mission even angel extravaganza lvl3 easily and it's rare they touch my armour, so even for new player this ship is really amazing |

great hull. haven't done a L4 in it yet though. [my main toon has dessy and associated skills to Level 5] don't think it'll struggle too much, did L3 missions with a breeze [no surprise really as the bonus's are beastly], but am paranoid at losing it as it cost as much as [when i bought mine] as a HAC. maybe when the market settles the price down a bit i'll fly Confessors as my main hull type. love the look and cannot wait for the other Tac Dessies. |

You don't say? 300 million isk put into any ship can do level 3s easily, that's such a big surprise!
Yes big surprise because I did the lvl3 with heat sink II, armour repair II and dual beam not with the fit I post so still a good surprise
