Hey all, so I'm looking to getting back into mission running after getting sick of standings grinding. I'm fairly new-ish, with only 3.9 million SP and not a lot to show for it. I've also never put together a fit myself before, mostly just used ones I found online, but this time I decided to try doing it myself.
Looking for advice on what to do from here. I've only got Jury Rigging 2, so any advanced rigs are out for me. I also can't fit T2 guns yet.

I get about 269 DPS with the drones out, and 10,902 EHP. I focused on hardening against EM and Thermal, since I'm going to be missioning in Amarr space and from what I understand that's the kind of damage the rats do there. Also my range is kind of shite, 7km optimal with 5.5km falloff. Not sure if I ought to be using beam lasers or what.
If you need more info, just ask. Thanks! |

I don't really do lasers yet, so I'll let the others comment on your fit, but you should know that rigs don't have fitting requirements anymore, you only need to train the skills to lessen the penalties.

Fit looks good, most of the time a Coercer would do the trick for Level 2 missions already. Consider buying yourself a set of Radio Lenses for range, as you pointed out Multifreq is kinda short. |

And while yeah, I could probably do it in a Coercer, I'd prefer to not have that extra challenge.
I also played with the fit a little bit... with Focused Anode Medium Particle Stream Is (beam lasers instead of pulse lasers) I do 218 DPS (without drones), whereas with the pulse lasers I did 207...? Don't know if it has to do with my skills or what. |

Yeah, there is not really a good way to convey what I said with the way they have the requirement tab setup so I guess they did nothing when they changed it.

Medium beams got their dps buffed and tracking nerfed a few patches back, and now do more paper dps than pulse for equivalent ammos (although pulse's short range T2 ammo Conflagration still does a bit more than beams can). |

level 2s tend to be mostly frig-sized ships, so i'd stick to pulses for the tracking. |

That choice depend on several factors:
- do you have the fitting skills to fit beams - are you capable of using manual piloting to help your beams track targets - are you capable of making non-stable ships work - do you have decent enough drone skills to take care of short orbit stuff your guns can't track
If the answer to all of the above is yes (or at least "I'm willing to put in effort to learn and make it work") then beams can make good sense, if even one of those questions is answered with "nope, not happening" then stick to pulses for now. Apart from that, most people's opinion on pulse vs beam is based on being able to use T2 crystals so you can just ignore the majority of statements as you can't use that yet.
Depending on your fitting skills here's a fit that should work nicely. Note the LARGE battery, it gives a much better cap/s than a cap recharger would and as such it's worthwhile. Still, this fit is NOT stable, which is not a problem as long as you learn how to deal with that (and as you're flying Amarr you better get used to it asap :P).

Even if you do not have the skills to 'fit' the rig yourself, you can have someone fit the rigs for you and then you can pilot the rigged ship and enjoy the effects of the rig. |

I liked a cap booster fit on my omen. was fit almost the same as yours. I just think I had a web instead of a tracking comp. and medium cap injector instead of the cap battery. Cap batteries seem to be very rarely useful.
beams are nice you can kite everything and nuke it at 30km or so. of course getting closer and using higher damage ammo works pretty well too.

Turret cruisers for level 2's aren't a great idea - you lose a lot of damage to enemy movement. I'd stick with a beefy frigate or destroyer. |

Fit actually looks fine, just the cap battery is a bit odd.
You don't generally fit cap batteries unless you're worried about neuting (which is probably a real concern in amarr space as you fight blood raiders) or fit an oversized one that actually increases your cap recharge more than a cap recharger II.
As long as you fly properly, you won't lose too much damage against smaller targets. Kite the npcs so they follow you in a nice line. |

Large batteries are very good on PVE cruiser Hulls if you have the fitting for them. They give you more regen than a Recharger and a big increase to cap buffer. The big issue is the crazy fittings, very few ships are able to fit them without nerfing the rest of he fit.
I use one on a C3 Legion, works very well.

and the omen with medium guns is pretty awesome for lv2s, you pretty much warp in and can blap everything at pretty much whatever range lv2 mission ships fight at. and now that it has a pretty decent drone bay, it doesn't have to worry about frigs getting too close as much.
that said flying a gun cruiser in lv2s makes you learn how to use guns, and I like the cap booster fits as they make you learn to manage your cap and modules. I started off flying caldari and basically facerolled f1 to wherever my launchers stopped.
I just threw this together, it fits on my alt, who pretty much just has the fitting skills to 5, with energy weapon rigging 3, and armor rigging 1 It fits with power grid management at 4. Plenty of CPU left over. main change I would consider is the web for a tracking comp, which I think one of the earlier fits has. oh and the adaptive nano plating for either another hardener or another heat sink.
I'd carry every other ammo starting with multi and going up to microwave, I don't think you will need radio. I probably would try to not use anything lower than standard unless it spawns outside of your range.

Given that the CPU requirements of Medium Capacitor Battery II and Large Capacitor Battery II are quite close, you might be able to fit the large one instead, you should have plenty of grid for it. :) That will improve your endurance a fair bit. Also, you should be able to fit Capacitor Control Circuit I rigs quite easily as they only require Jury Rigging 1. ;) But it does increase the cost of the ship a great deal. But again, an improvement for your ships endurance while running the tank module. |
