Instas are a shame. The sheer abundance of them, and volume of copied instas, causes server lag. They cannot be made client-side because of probable exploitation, but even so, they are an element of the game that should be discarded.
The current system used to determine where your ship goes when you warp is something like this: You approach the point which you are warping to, and end up about X km (warp within distance) from that point, with a variation of about 3 km laterally.
Suggested system: Your precise warp destination is a random point on a sphere that is X km in diameter (warp within distance).
The randomization calculation is simple, and there is no way to reliably warp nearer to your target than 15 km. In fact, any 15 km radius sphere which contains the target has the same average final distance. I don't really care to prove that here, but it can be proven easily. This system would not change anything for people who use bookmarks for their intended purpose: to remember locations in space, and it would prevent the exploitation of bookmarks: namely, warping with a closer-than-intended distance of a target.
... I see no reason why this should not occur.

Random warps mean chance of wether you live, or die, is based on just that - chance. Warp 10km? You get podded - warp 3 km out? You make it through the gate: Influence exerted by yourself - zero.
Would you roll dice to see if your 300mil isk BS survived or got podded? No, and other people don't want to do that either.
What travel needs is options, draw backs to 0km warps, advantages to longer warps.

Cailais, new interdiction methods can add that risk to 0km warps..
And yes, randomisation is worse in every aspect that the widely decried ECM.

1) I still havent seen a single good suggestion for that 2) it would only be acceptable if those methods are in the game BEFORE warp to 0 is implemented 3) the interdictor methods must be easy and very fast to deploy and be free. Just as instajumps are free.

I think its a good idea... there are many ideas like this.. others have proposed that lets say u warp in 15kms from your target... the randomisation sphere could be the 15km.. around the desired target... or something like that ... i say anything that gets rid of instas is good...
Only thing is that players will kick up a stink.. cause they think that CCP is just favouring griefers etc etc etc... and life will be impossible now in eve without instas
hell ive never used them, not even in 0.0... even when im mining, transporting... or jsut traveling... its not that bad.. makes things a lil more exciting.. and makes things a lil bit slower... but still enjoyable...
Once we get rid of instas.. we can all start contributing new ideas for travelling in low sec space that will be balanced with the rest of the game in mind as well as the servers.. unlike the band aid fix that instas are...

I've said that may times. I am for warp to 0 in highsec, if you have no wardec on you, so u cut the travel times. In 0.0 and lowsec, there should be no instas. If want to go some place, which is defended, bring some mates with you and go. Eve is a cooperative game, let it behave as such.
Using instas by single character to travel relatively safe in 0.0 is looks like exploit to me and should be forbidden.
