2006.09.13 23:35 RefID:728649688 This is an automated message. The contract for ship insurance you made for a Cyclone from 2006.05.29 21:30:42 to 2006.08.21 21:30:42 is considered invalid because the contract has expired. Due to this no payment is being made for the reported destruction of this ship.
i put the best insurance i chould 3 months ago when i first bought my cyclone now i get ripped off in a warp bug & get owned & it tells me i have no insurace?????!!!!!!! why wasnt i told something was wrong before i lost my ship?!
UGH!

The insurance thingy has a limited time for covering the loss of a ship. As you can see in the insurance window. There is a starting and an ending date. Sorry for the loss (which is doubled now since you got no insurance ) but i think that an e-mail comes from CEP when your insurance is expiring. Well to me came 2 e-mails about 2 ships i have lost some time now, informing me that their insurance is about to expire.
------- Nobody can be exactly like me. Even I have trouble doing it. |

It got podded by your capslock key.
Now, in all seriousness, it would be nice to get messages when insurance expires, instead of when insurance expires and you've opened up the insurance tab.
But you ought to keep an eye on this sort of thing too. ---------- My sig is boring. |

An insurance expiration reminder mail would be quite nice. The only time I get insurance expiration notices is when:
I lose a ship and find out that the insurance had expired.
I insure a different ship, at which point any and all expiry notices arrive.
Something you just have to keep an eye on at this point, I'm afraid. Sorry for your loss if you had no idea.

Edited by: Farrellus Cameron on 14/09/2006 02:10:08 Whenever my insurance expires I always get an eve-mail saying it has expired. Initially they just used an incomprehensible RefId, and so it was annoying because I have like a dozen random ships so I would have to try and figure out which one it is. Since the patch I've noticed they actually include the ship name in the insurance eve-mails, although I haven't gotten an expiration mail since the patch.
Sounds like it might have been a bug. Try petitioning it and/or doing a bug report. Can't hurt.

It's no bug.
You only get expiration mails when you click on the insurance tab. It's been like this for at least 2 years.

Yes, this happens, no you won't get refunded (I should know, I lost a Typhoon under similar circumstances). I was told there are many ways of verifying the insurance status of a ship, in addition to evemail, so I'm sadly out of luck. Insurance expiration mails no longer seem to get generated on the moment of expiry, so check often.
Now I just do spot checks on expensive ships I fly and if I see no insurance tab, I know it's no longer insured. Expensive lesson, I know. .

and it's not knowing about game mechanics, and filing countless petitions, that leads to problems we're having with petitions taking so long

Do what I do ..... before hitting the undock button check the state of insurance / that you got the cargo you should have / that you got ammo / that your ship is acctually fitted .
Yes all these things I now check before undocking, like you I learned the hard way ------------------------------------------ BiteFight |

My expiry mails say the name of the ship that the insurance expired for. I'm pretty sure it's a post-patch thing. It's definitely there though, don't know what to tell you if you don't see it.

thats right! you dont get the mails if you click on the ship insurance tab on ship info but you get them when you open up the Insurance Menu for Insuring ships
And if you just get them ad-hoc then i suggest the GM's take you away somewhere and start running some "tests" on you....

Reckon this is intended feature. With current way the system doesn't have to make periodic database checks through all the ships -> slighly less lag.
Also, if this was critical issue, they probably could add a check in DT or something alike. Now a feasible workaround is to check your ship insurances say once a month.

Ah. That's a bit of an improvement then.
I haven't taken out any insurance this year - maybe not in the last twelve months so I am a bit out of touch with the latest developments -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

i like the way insurance works now...
they actually tell you the ship name of the ship which insurance has expired. That's great.
The feature that you have to look at the insurance window in station, is just as cool. It's like you are at home in real life, if you want to know when your insurance expires, just open your drawer and look at the papers... EvE-CCG Spoiler Database |

You must be using crap insurers then. Mine all send me a reminder in the mail. Better yet since I pay by direct debit the letter is just inviting me to cancel or let it run for another term. If the offer is acceptable I can just file it and forget it. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)
