It crashes frequently. I have failed to see a pattern, other then it happens when I'm in space, not in station. Sometimes I can play for hours and sometimes it crashes within 5 minutes after last crash and variations in between. iMac Model identifier:iMac7,1 Processor name:Intel Core 2 Duo Processor speed:2,8 GHz Processors:1 Cores:2 L2-cache:4 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus speed:800 MHz Boot ROM-version:IM71.007A.B03 10.6.8 Activity; Flying in space No workaround
I just got this too (see below), before it has just died ("poof" as somebody wrote earlier):
"Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00403e3a at address 0x006d2de8 Do you wish to debug it ?"
(it died after I pressed "yes") |

Aye, that's odd. My client crashes in Empire space all the time. |

My impression is it sure crashes often when dualboxing and less so when playing one client only. Though not sure of my judgment there because I dualbox all the time. Or maybe after I 'clean installed' Crucible I flew round to awe the new nebulae in different regions. So many jumps to see different kinds of stations and stargates in the new environment as well as the new nature of nebula reflection on my ship. Everything in Crucible working real smoothly - video performance brilliant and seamless as in MAC style, indicating no reasons for worry. Then 'copy as EVE2' and do the 'plist thing' and run my logi pilot account and soon find either or both clients crashing constantly.
I never dual box. But it was stable just as Crucible came out. Problems started after the first or second patch (not sure) I think. |

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but there could be a difference between running it on Snow Leopard and Lion as well. It is playable most of the time (I must really like this game) and there are times when I can play for hours without a crash. My younger brother that I finally convinced to take up EVE runs Lion. He has stopped playing, since it crashes all the time. Play 5 mins, crash, play 2 mins, crash and so on. After a couple of crashes EVE has actually been able to freeze Lion, with a reboot as the only option left. Then again, it could be something with support for different graphics drivers as well. All I know for sure is that it was perfectly stable before Crucible, on both our machines. So much for recruiting new players to EVE... |

Yeah, the latest patch didn't fix it. It froze up a couple of times yesterday for me. |

Well, it is a weird problem this. I bought a new iMac 21,5" (cheapest configuration) and I was planning on installing Windows for the first time on a Mac since I had given up. But... funny thing. It works flawless on this new Mac! |

My brother had that problem on a Mac Mini, but it went away and now it usually crashes every 20 minutes or so, but without any need to restart the computer. Or at least that was the status a month ago. He stopped playing for now.
On my iMac it is more stable now. When I use the memory optimization setting I only get a crash a day, if I use the quality setting it crashes more often. I never need to restart the computer though. |
