To clarify; Solo pvp (real solo, NO links). Can fly every single race and class of ships. 0.0 space, I got other stuff for low-sec. Also have been out of pvp for a while until recently due to RL.
Playstyle; split blob - kill stuff before blob gets in range - ideally GTFO, Alternate; get attention - kill them because they underestimate.
I have flown the Taranis and Crusader for a long time as combat interceptors. However, T1 frigs like the Atron just gets a lot more fights and is still highly effective. Trying with T1 frigs from the other races has not been as successful. They either lack speed, effective application range or raw dps for this, something the Atron hits a very good mix of. Got me thinking, what other ships draws a lot of fights, yet has the ability to win them/kill stuff before DIAF like the Atron does?
Class, race, SP's, neither matter as I can fly it all.

Raptor/Ares, flown exactly like the kiting atron, get a lot of "lol wtf, easy kill" reactions. Condor is also an obvious choice or you could try a battle Heron or Helios but those are brawlers. None of those will take on a Garmur though. Small neut + web stabber is also great bait for T2 frigs. |

Slicer or coercers do the job very well. (Scorch FTW)
But most t1 frigs should do the job if flown well. Look up the EVE is Easy videos by Sutonia.

Thank you.
A further question, a certain Orthrus has been camping in the area I fly, fit like this; Fit or this Fit2 I was thinking of using a 100MN AB vagabond to kill that, but have never flown one before, is that a good idea, or is a different ship better?

The orthrus fits are fit to speed tank and not much else. The hole seems to be Kinetic or Explosive.
Something with a scram, web, local rep and selective damage will work. I'd try to stop it and brawl it myself. Up close. Of course though... if you can't catch it, being kited to death sux.
Not sure what you can fly or what you can afford. Sac? Vigilant? Duel rep Navy Brutix?
I don't like 100MN AB fits. slow to get moving and they over shoot fast targets. I think they're best for gtfo and that's about it. |

Can fly pretty much everything near enough max skilled that is not a capital nor is isk an issue (some restraint is ideal ofc :P).
Problem with the ships mentioned is I dont see how I am ever going to catch it with them as they are slow.
Good point about overshooting.. However I cant think easily of a different way to get within it's 18km+ scram range as MWD will not work for that.

Can you get a friend in a covops to give you a warpin? Start the engagement on top of him and he's fighting uphill from the get go, and that thing has no actual tank.

sure... or a friend in a huginn/rapier, etc.
But that is hardly solo, nor makes for good pvp footage
Wondering if perhaps simply another Orthrus is the best to kill one...

True but mmo and all that, even someone to tell you what to bounce off to land at the right angle could be enough if it's timed perfectly, it's admittedly not tecnicaly solo but it's hardly an off grid boosting t3 or command ship and would be acceptable to me given the prey . you could also consider a logoff trap but again may require eyes or someone in system to tell you when to go
Loki webs would work, but then you're in a Loki so
Also, may be a terrible idea but the confessor can fit combat probes without completely gimping it's fit so that might be something to consider ,though rapid lights will maul a confessor so maby not for this particular case.

Most Garmur pilots that have at least as much common sense as isk in their wallets are going to have their Garmurs Snaked/Linked. So trying to fit anything specialized to engage one without both of those seems silly to me. Unless of course you are counting on them not having those, but a strategy that relies on the opponent being fit less than optimally seems like a bad one to me. |

Anything with decent damage projection should be able to kill it. The main issue will be making sure that he stays on grid long enough to be killed. It looks like a fit only designed to blap people in frigs and then GTFO as soon as something larger comes by.
A scorch oracle should be able to blast it apart in few seconds so if you are lucky you might be able to surprise him so he doesn't warp out fast enough. Another option may be a post-proteus rail lachesis. The d-scan immunity will give you the element of surprise, the long range tackle will allow you to hold him in place and railguns will kill him faster than he kills you if you fit a decent tank.

Kestrel..
I dont think I've ever lost a 1v1 with a Kestrel vs an inty. They all come flying in, expecting to wreck you... and you obliterate them. Only time you will be in trouble is if inty pilot is decent and knows how to hold range / keep it without you getting them scrammed or webbed...
If you hold your range right you can kill them with multiple people on you as well... |

XL-ASB Vagabond could work against the orthus. Just use an MWD and fit a long point, the weapon range of AC's should be fine, but if he has snakes and links you may not even catch him. You pretty much have to accept that people will dual box links and are terrible players, but if they can beat you in a straight line and use insane ship bonuses to esape 99% of situations then you can't do much about it other than bringing a friend/links. |

Slicer is a great choice, it does extremely well vs both buffer or active tanked garms.
hmmm. Beam confessor might actually do well to, for those 70km point garmurs that love to kite. I've not actually gone up against a garmur in one yet, but it certainly does melt stuff like daredevils. |

dram could be a fun fight, but you may need to count on a garm pilots arrogance. a scythe fleet issue is awesome for insta blapping frigs, rapid launchers and warriors makes frigs cry.
i have had a few frigs engage for reasons i have no idea, but they get blapped.....like one volleyed.
and they engage like im the worst frig pilot in the world....assume they are linked, boosted, and implanted.
based on that, fly a juicy cruiser....one that looks like its easy to kill. then rake the KM's all day...and make rad videos.
garm pilots will freely engage cruisers that look like they are easy prey. as with any frig pilot. especially when they are linked.
