There will be people who fixate on these articles as "omg people r being mean on t3h interwebz" and will make ridiculous, baseless claims about bullying, sociopathy, etc.
Hopefully, the more reasoned reader will pick up on the positive in all this - JT has been exposed (yet again) as an absolutely terrible CEO and has no business running a ****-up in a brewery, let alone a corp or alliance. If even a single Eve player avoids this guy as a result then good work has been done.

In Eve there exists meta PvP. The market level PvP. The back room deals of alliance politics which affects wars as much as any capital battle. And the Corp/ alliance level scam like this. It's not traditional PvP, but then again this game is full of non traditional PvP. Speaking as a roleplayer and pirate, ******* with the enemy's head is often more effective than ******* with their killboards.

Quote:The miner has to oppose the gankers and fight back. That is not the role of prey. A miner's two primary choices are run or die. Should he escape, he is the victor. You don't need to blow up enemy ships to "win" at EVE.

You demonstrate an alarming level of ignorance when it comes to the fundamental aspects of PvP within EVE. Either that or you're ignoring them to try to force a point. Neither is something that should be seen coming from a CSM candidate.

"Bait" and "assist your rescuers" could be a lot more possible. Could be. Though I think it's safe to say that most miners, particularly in HiSec are not bait, nor do they have a friendly force on standby to kill wannabe gankers.
Quote:Wrong. It is a foregone conclusing that it is one or the other. A foregone conclusion, by definition excludes other possibilities. "He might die or he might not" is a list of possible outcomes, not a foregone conclusion. I.e. A forgone conclusion never contains the word "or".

I am sleep deprived. You pick a different term for the boolean - run or die. Either way there is no choice in what you do, logically and it is boring. Sitting there mining is something you do socially, chat on comms do things on another screen, etc. Having to be on high alert for that 1 second difference that you do not always have is a bad design.
Something like this needs to be implemented.

And here we have this great discussion about miners' options when faced with gank. I'm never tired of those.
Let's say the miner pilots retriever or hulk or covetor, since rest of the barges can be easily tanked way above casual gank bar. Ganker has 2-3 catalysts at his disposal, he wants to kill the miner. Miner wants to survive gank and probably humiliate ganker a bit (at least that's what happened nearly everytime I botched ganking attempt - lucky target didn't hesitate to mock me in local, so I guess it's part of miner's objective). What can miner do to win this engagement?
* Have a permit. It's a known fact that CODE-abiding miners are virtually immune to ganking * Stay in .8-1 highsec. With minimal tank, it'll be rather hard to kill any of those ships I mentioned in systems above .8 * Tank a little bit more, and see Concord killing the gankers * Bring ECM escort along with you * Keep moving - it's harder to gank a moving target * Tank a whole lot more: I saw well-tanked retrievers which were impervious to ganking even in .7 * Train alt to fly an Orca, have it stationed nearby and jump in once gank starts - nothing annoys me more than target that disappeared after I opened fire
I think there are more, those are just most trivial options. All of them do not require running to win a battle. Neither death is a certain outcome.
Jenshae, face it: miners are so miserable not because they are in great disadvantage - all those measures I've just mentioned are trivial and do not require expensive fitting, lots of skillpoints or fancy piloting. Miners are just lazy, incompetent players who are meant to be killed by the game design. I would say if all miner ganking would've stopped, all those game designers and programmers of CCP would've felt bad because we just neglect their hard work.
If anything, we should increase the rate of miner ganking to increase the overall quality of playing community in this game. |

Okay, let's break these down: * Have a permit. It's a known fact that CODE-abiding miners are virtually immune to ganking Don't be silly. Don't feed them. * Stay in .8-1 highsec. With minimal tank, it'll be rather hard to kill any of those ships I mentioned in systems above .8 Herd miners so they are more concentrated, easier to find and competing for less resources? * Tank a little bit more, and see Concord killing the gankers I can agree with this cost to benefit pay off. * Bring ECM escort along with you Which newbie do you know that has two accounts, one with ECM ... or do you expect carebears to waste an account incase someone might come and attack? * Keep moving - it's harder to gank a moving target Correction: Keep moving between two warp off points. * Tank a whole lot more: I saw well-tanked retrievers which were impervious to ganking even in .7 Retrievers tanking? Give me some of your stuff. * Train alt to fly an Orca, have it stationed nearby and jump in once gank starts - nothing annoys me more than target that disappeared after I opened fire I am sure you are horribly annoyed when people bring Orcas to belts for you to gather more guys and gank it.
Sending a cynabel and two deimos to us and getting one procurer that was stuck on the invisible part of an asteroid does not count as little catalyst ganks. (They lost the ships with 97% ISK failure btw).

Because concord response time has nothing to do with the success or profitability of the gank/

I would encourage you to participate in a few ganks before you start claiming to know anything about target selection for them. You obviously have never been in a gank fleet of any significant size.

I looked through the killboard for Orca losses over the last few days. Every single one, without exception either was not tanked or the attacker had some sort of aggression right.
That is not a sign the Orca is in any way underpowered. It's a sign that EVE has a lot of very dumb players.

You must've looked back a lot further than I did.
Edit: Must've been a lot further. Just glanced through a full page of Orca losses and saw no exceptions.
Edit2: After scanning two pages of losses, came across a ganked Orca that was partially tanked, but had omitted its DCU. This is the closest to a fully tanked Orca that has been shown - and that was just before the new year.
In over a week, not a single fully tanked Orca has been suicide ganked in HiSec.
