Edited by: Metis AT on 15/09/2006 14:14:46 This is not a suggestion thread.
I will lay out the situation.
Me and my corp have bookmarks for where we live in 0.0. We are a young corp and only really have bookmarks for our 0.0 home and some areas around us. We also travel to Empire and have a few bms for our travel areas but not whole regions.
We want to move, but now that means either buying or making new bms and then copying it. I copied 1 region we are thinking of moving to the other day. It took forever at 5 bms per probably close to 2 hours to do it by hand. 30 members x 2 copying per and we are looking at roughly 120hours of bm copying to get the entire corp outfitted with the necessary bms.
Not having the bms is really not an option given the dangerous nature of the area and the liklihood that everyone there would have these bms. We also had some fun awhile ago with an empire war, but even that is a bit too dangerous without bms now. What are we suppose to do it, just pick an area of eve and never leave it, because to do so means wasting hours of our time. We like to travel and explore, that should not be such a big deal.
I know you had problems with people using bm copying to creat lag, but this change really is hurting us new players. A few other people i know are just hanging in empire because they also do not feel wasing that much time copying bms. My corp is not going to sit in empire running missions for months waiting for a some solution.
So my question is... Is there a fix to this problem coming with Kali 1?
I am not here to whine, i just want an answer, and i think it is valid to ask the developers if they are planning a solution to this.
I guess if i dont hear anything back I will assume there is no plans for a solution soon. Unfortunately that will probably mean setting a long skill and signing out of EVE for my corp for a bit. That is sad because we really enjoy eve, we just do not feel like spending so much time copying bms. It just seems a bit unfair at the moment to force new players to do this.
Flame all you want if you feel the need, we are not some hardcore corp playing eve like a job, we play for fun. Nobody in the corp really wants to spend this much time copying bms just to move a region over. And we will not use a macro to do it for us, unless CCP says that is legal, we have never exploited in a game and never will.

Edited by: Yaevep on 15/09/2006 14:21:05 About 42000 people have asked the same question over and over, and nobody gave us any more info than "It's being looked into, we will come up with something to replace bms.".
I wouldn't get my hopes up for Kali 1, since it's supposed to be already done more or less and they're just ironing out the obvious bug before it hits Sisi sometime next week. And if any sorta drastic BM changes would be in it, they would have probaby told us.
Edit: I can't speel.

nope no read the english i guess. everyone get off of this topic damn. CCP has gotten the point something needs to be done. hell they already limited it so you can only copy 5 at a time, which means no more selling of regions of BM unless you want to spend all day copying. so hey go out and get a life or complain or ***** to someone who cares in some other forum. |

Edited by: Metis AT on 15/09/2006 14:40:05 I read the posts. Almost all of them in this forum and the others.
Most are suggestion/arguement threads. If someone could point me to a definitive statement from the devs saying the 5bms is a temp fix that would be helpful.
It is reasonable in a game like this to expect an answer to this question regarding the timeframe. I do not care about what the solution is (which is what most of the threads are about). I am curious about when to expect a change. If a change is not coming for several months they should let the player base know that. If there is no response i am going to assume no change is coming (or they would tell us something) any time soon and my friends will go play something else for a few months. If no change ever comes we will probably go play another game all together. We dont feel like wasting this much time everytime we want to go do something new in Eve.
Edit: Also if you already have all your BMs you dont really have any idea what it is like now not to have them.

Originally by: Traveler The main problem is that currently everybody needs to copy the bookmarks. One solution is to send them with EVE mails, another is the introduction of corp bookmarks and other options tend to remove them at all and replace them with some skill based system. Whatever will happen, it will happen in Kali.

2 hours for 1 region isn't bad at all. That's about how long it took me to copy them before the 5 max limit was put in.
Then again I didn't have to sit at the computer the entire 2 hours =P ---

Thank you...I saw this one and this is the one that made me post.
It says coming in Kali. But which one, from what i have read Kali is going to be several expansions streching well into 07.
Laythum. I appreciate your response. I acutally made a lot fo the bookmarks my corp uses. It took me awhile but i have gotten fairly good. It actually took me awhile to realize that the different types of gates affected the accuracy of the bm. Problem is that not everyone in the corp is good at, or has time to make their own. We also like to know that everyone has similar bookmarks when traveling together.
The bms i copied the other night were actually about half self made and half purchased.
Personally it is not that much of a problem right now, but we are corp that likes to move around. we found out the hard way that not have good accurate bms for empire wars was not a good idea, so we made our own very quickly and supplied the corp with the bms under the old system. It still took long under the old system but you could do it afk. Cook dinner do something else.
This last time was just a complete chore, and really turned me off the game a lot. I wasted a good amount of time both making them and copying. I only play 10-15 hours a week. The whole process took up a good chunk of my play time for that entire week.

This was the problem. It doesnt take that much longer now. I would actually say it might be faster. But having to sit there and ignore real life while doing is a bit of a pain. Before you used to just start the process then go walk the dog, watch a movie or cook dinner or something.
