Anyone know if they plan to make a cell phone version of this game? I think for the vast majority of things to do in the game it should work just fine. Might not for fleet activities. |

Wait until CREST lets us build our own.
It'd be awesome to make a a 3rd party utility that could do stuff like queue up a year worth of manufacture orders and would handle submitting, and delivering of orders.
Then you real in-game just has to mine / shift around buy / sell orders of materials and products :P

CREST, for now, will not allow for changes which manipulate the game world, in a way that can make you money.
That's been stated as a design goal.
After all, if you can, you can write a bot to do it for you.

I am just comfortable playing with two 27" monitors.
The thought of doing anything on a 2.5" screen gives me the willies. People can barely post on a smart phone let alone queue market orders or whatever.

Xerc, do you think that would be a good thing..
Having a 3rd party app doing stuff automatically....vs the almighty EULA
Though a smart-phone based app that could access your chat channels and mail (in a good way, not like EVE-gate) would be great.
Or a mixtures between EFT/Pyfa and the in game fitting system. So that you can design and 1-press-button import them into EVE directly.

Help channel: Help chat - Reloaded
Public roams channels: RvB Ganked / Redemption Road / Spectre Fleet / Bombers bar / The Content Club

These are entirely viable And being looked at.
They don't affect the game world (unlike market or industry stuff)

While I suspect actual ship flying to be untenable from a smart phone, though a tablet will likely be OK, all that "other stuff" would be fantastic.
Those of us who use public transit, or get stuck in traffic, or take long craps (sorry had to add that) would find interface to our accounts through a smart phone to be an opportunity to handle the interim stuff and when finally parked at the PC and logged in, get down to flying ships, and in my case, losing them too.
I wonder though if this would be considered unfair to those who do not have smart phones or tablets. But even now I'm seeing tablets with WiFi, meaning no data plan is required, going for under 100 bucks.

good luck with the overview and target locking on a smart phone screen.
A recovering btter vet, with a fresh toon and a determination to like everything that CCP does to Eve...
Don't take me too seriously though, I like to tease a bit on the forums, but that's only because I love you...

Several mobile versions of eve have been worked on in the past. The university of iceland had it in the works for blackberry and the first iphone, later scrapped. And ccp was starting a mobile division, which now also seems to be scrapped.
A simple app to chekc mail and chat via phone would be useful

You mean you won't like the idiots who'll post 80 million ISK PLEX's in Jita because they misclicked on their phone?

I tried playing EVE on a laptop the other day. It was terrible. The game and the spreadsheets were always overlapping.

Why should it be on mobile? Just why? Why waste the development? There's plenty of things allowing access as easy as a phone.
If you can't buy at least a Netbook... Ok, I'm sorry, that is a joke. Not a Netbook.
But the point is, I took my laptop down to the bottom of my world and did a DED site in a Kestrel with absolutely no massive problems (700ms+ ping isn't a problem).
Mobile devices already exist in the world that can play this game, anywhere. And they don't even require a new version of the game.
