(I'm sorry if this has been brought up before.. I can't possibly search 10 years of suggestions.)
Station markets should allow for sell/buy orders of researched BPOs and specific BPCs. Yeah, we have contracts. But contracts are a pain to dig through to find a decent worthwhile version of what you're looking for. And they don't allow perspective buyers to express their interest in a particular item with desired stats; and owners of BPOs have to speculate as to what is in demand and for what price. Trade channels are a crap chute.
I propose that station markets allow buy/sell order for BPCs and improved BPOs. They can't currently because these are items are irregular. But there are only three varying attributes: Runs, ME, and TE. This is manageable. The market window, when dealing with "Improved Blueprints", would only need three additional columns. This will require both new server and client code, but it shouldn't be too bad.
How this would apply to selling is fairly obvious, so I wont go into it. 'Buy' offers could be satisfied only if each of these parameters are equal or better than what is specified by the purchaser (in addition to the usual ISK mechanics). For example if I place a buy offer for a certain BPC with Runs-ME-TE of 1000-10-20 and you have copy with 1500-10-20 than the sale would go through (although it maybe foolish for you to sell a 1500 run BPC at 1000 run rates). A copy with 1500-10-10 would not meet the requirements.
If the Runs field is left blank then that would imply infinity and, thus, a BPO that has been researched to the desired level (perhaps actual GêP symbol will appear to obliviate any confusion). A BPO with suitable ME-PE could be used to fill a BPC buy order (but it'd generally be stupid for a seller to do so).
C'mon. I know I'm not they only person who hates wollowing through contracts.

because of how the market works off the item data base this would require a major re-wright of some very old code and the amount of time and manpower it would take is just not worth it.
but you would know this had you bothered to use the search function rather than apologizing upfront for not |

Ok, server work, UI redesign, and taking the code and UI guys off their work on Sov and POS work aside...
You can't sell an item on the market unless it is in a packaged state because when you sell say a packaged thorax to someone, they don't get THAT thorax, you just lose a thorax and they magically acquire a thorax.
Now BPC's and BPO's are basically in an unpackaged state by default. They are their own entity with their own information. The basic reason you have to use contracts for researched BPO's and BPC's is that as long as they are their own object, they cannot be transferred from person to person by the "poof gone" and "poof appeared" method I highly suspect the server uses in all market transactions.
Implementing a BPO/BPC market would require reworking the way the market handles the transfer of objects, allowing them to be listed even though they are not a generic placeholder like all packaged items, then creating the code for handling the transfer, then implementing a UI that makes it all more convenient and intuitive than the current contract system.
On that note, how do you visually display options in such a way that it is intuitive?
For a BPC you have # of Runs, ME, TE. You need a way for the existing marketplace to display all of these without bunging up the market for everyone else. Potentially you could enter in the ME/PE/Runs numbers you are looking for and it would show you, but serverside this would likely result in an additional hidden item category and database entry for each potential combination of ME/PE/Runs, meaning many thousands for large number run prints like ammo.
TLDR: Eeeeehhhh.. Not a priority, not with the hassle it's likely to generate. |

Oddly enough this is one of those places in game where we fell down and failed to apply the meta to EVE.
This would a much easier thing to manage from a website, A website like EVE-Central but for contracts. If I had a features and ideas request from CCP it would be to have another layer added to API and allow me to drop contracts in to an API verified search engine type site. I'd also prefer they run the contract style EVE-Central site and add an ingame contract watchlist that could be built from the site.
tl;dr take the contract system back from the scammers.

I think a simpler fix for what you are asking for, is for CCP to add filters to help narrow the results you get when searching for a print on contracts. Some options could include
-Me Level -PE Level -BPO -BPC -Number of Runs
Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

Personally I believe that removing the "runs" part of a bpc would be much easier, when you want 50 runs it would be the same as having a stack of 50 charges and allows that 'stack all' functionality to remove clutter. The only easy addition of a bpc marketplace would be the exploration drops that don't vary at all, like booster, asb or aar bpcs the addition of player made bpcs would require some fancy market UI to determine desired me/te of the customer which would be a difficult task to get right. |
