I very much doubt that half of you have not experienced sitting around all day waiting for a group to make a mistake, pouncing on them with caffiene strained nerves, killed a cap ship or whatever, and then been annoyed several hours later or the next day to learn that the ship in question has been replaced.
"OMG, you got teh lag? In a POS war no less? Boohoo. There, there. Here's your ship back. Nevermind the fact that you knew the risks when you undocked."
At the very least, since we are going into the next dimension of carebeardom, can we not at least have some sort of time penalty on reimbursements? Can we not simply make it reimbursement of nothing more than insurance costs, so that the losing side at least has to take time to replace the ship? Think of it as a new and exciting form of lag.
Ideally, we should see the petition crew just start refusing more and more reimbursals outright. If you keep giving them out, strays will just keep asking. It's like in-laws, if you aren't atrociously ill-mannered with them the first time, they will not conspicuously avoid you until your kids are old enough to travel on their own.
No expectionation of reimbursement = shorter queues = smaller christmas bonuses to keep employees less homicidal.

They won't give it back because of lag only if there are an exploit used or you ran into a bug.
And it takes about 1-2 months to get it replaced and thats still missing all mods that didn't get destroyed so the guy went out and baught another ship.

Ugh, somebody got reimbursed through a PVP loss? The chance of that happening is like infinity^-1.

They only give you back your ships due to server side lag. For instance, the current Tribute war has taken down its node several dozen times in the past few days, these types of situations get essentially everything lost returned. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

You're forgetting the single most important factor that CCP should take into account.
Lag should only be a valid reason for reimbursement if your ALLIES lost their ships. It should never be a valid reason if your ENEMIES lost their ships. ________________________________________________

Wow, someone got their ship replaced within days? I lost a ship at random (just disappeared from my hangar) and I have been sitting on a petition for 90 days now. Sigh |

ye, right!
there is always risk of ctd'ing. where do you want to draw the line of an acceptable shiploss due to serverside hick-up? it's hard to take out a pos with t1 frigs. get a clue!

It sure would save a lot of time if CCP stopped reimbursing any ships lost in space, only the ones you lose in station will be reimbursed =)

Um, right now the only time you are likely to lose a dread is when it is attacking a PoS. These situations are always sufficiently laggy that you can claim the ship was lost to lag.
What gets me is some people's reimbursement peitions seem to get dealt with same day and some take 3 months - I think there needs to be more transparency about this process.
