When comparing high sec and null sec mining (in the context of large corporation fleets that aren't infinitely rich) how do null sec corps make a profit?
The obvious and age old problem is logistics, and afaik it breaks down into two/three paths
1.) Jump Freight the valuable minerals OR compressed ore Positives: Full market price Negatives: Only the valuable ore can be shipped, which cuts into profits substantially making it not worth the effort
2.) Sell to local corps Positives: Instant sales Negatives: Only what is in need sales, always the chance other corps don't need it
"3".) Jump Freight 'compressed minerals' in the form of T1 mods Positives: Most ore out Negatives: Lost mins reproccesing
So how does a mining corp that nets very large hauls earn a decent profit? I've researched this for hours but have found nothing that leads me to believe that being in null is any more profitable for a corp in comparison to just stripping systems in high. |

This isn't really a good option anymore after reprocessing changes. |

Depends how far you've got to JF it really. The big advantage to null mining is in the size of the anoms and the fact you can mine the same rock for a few hours before you pop it (in upgraded systems I mean). |

They build supers and caps. That's how you make money mining in null. Everything else, unless you have a good regional market, is going to be more effort selling than it's worth usually.

Depends on the outpost and its upgrades, also you have to subtract the station tax. |

So how could a corporation that mines primarily turn that into reasonable profit that is higher than just mining in highsec? Production? Or will the profits from using a JF pay out in the end?
Also I guess in that vein of thought, what about the loot from combat sites and resources from moon mining/pi in null? |

The question you're asking is what to do with your minerals. You have a variety of choices here including:
(1) Selling it to a local builder (cap builders usually need lots of minerals), probably a sov holder (2) Shipping it compressed to high sec and selling it there. (3) Refining it in null, shipping the high end minerals back (morphite, zydrine, megacyte) - in a cloaky hauler. (4) Refining it in null and building stuff with it, battleships, T1 frigs and cruisers - stuff people always need.
What you do really depends where you're going to be in null and what volume you're talking about. Note that it will be higher than high sec simply because of the asteroid volume you get in anoms in null (not the belts). You've also got the option of mining ice. If there's one thing everyone in null needs a lot of its fuel blocks. |

He can sell a lot of minerals in systems where there is l4 agents and manufacturing service in station. Like K3JR-J where everyone and their mothers are making Worms and Gilas 23/7 so there is always someone that need some minerals.

As far as I understand the reason compressed ore fetches a ghigher price than regular ore is that its easier to transport into nullsec. There seems to be little point in shipping compressed ore to Jita only to have it shipped back to null. You should be able to sell locally at a good price.

for making profit you may want to do what we do .... Spreadsheets \o/ .... we buy
PI Ore Minerals Salvage
in highsec we pay -10% of Jita and in Null it's -20%. if you keep it profitable for you and not raping the corpmates then the majority of them will use your spreadsheet as they don't need to worry about hauling to market to get a good deal which would just be costing them ISK.
best to sell to you so they can spend the time it would take hauling to market and back in the field making even more isk for them selves.
