I was just wondering if fleet boosting command ships were in demand for incursion fleets. They offer significant bonuses to logistics and combat overall yet all that seems to be in demand for incursion fleets are logistics and well fit battleships. Is there a welcome place for command ships? I am neither fanboy nor flamer. I am logic, dispassionate and cruel. |

I can't fully comment on it due to a lack of experience with it, but I know that a lot of fleets use nigh improbable Loki's to boost them from a safe spot. This way, if the Command Ship gets blown up.. you don't loose the fleet boosts. And the boosting is usually done from a secondary account seeing as it requires no attention.
And well, for large fleet battles I guess the same is done. As the Command ships tend to get primaried otherwise. So I guess they need to nerf the sig radius of the Loki's so they can be found at their safespots or something.. or only make Fleet boosts work on grid rather than in system. |

This is my command alt, just sit in a safespot and boost while my main is in the site in her bassi. Yes there is a need for them but it isnt very high and all boosters sit offgrid so you dont get paid on that account. Though of course it is easier to get into a fleet if you got a booster as well as your main. |

Much as previous responder says.
Yes, fleet boosters are good things for incursions, but most decent fleets already have a good offgrid booster engaged. Offgrid boosters donGÇÖt earn, but having a booster alt can make you otherwise more attractive to a fleet.
IGÇÖve stopped bringing my perfect booster alt, and their command ship, to incursions. I get much more from offering either two logis, or one logi and one DPS. No doubt when / if I get confident enough to run my own fleets IGÇÖll bring my booster along and set them up as offgrid fleet boss and booster GǪ to the benefit of all.

You will probably never get a fleet booster on the field. However, you can still be effective in a command ship on the field. The slepnir is shield fleets answer to the legion (and the rarity of slepnir pilots probably explains why you find legion fleets all over the place, but rarely a slepnir fleet), the absolution is a good compliment to the legion (though due to range, the legion is probably better), the nighthawk sucks majorly like all missile ships in vanguard sites, and the astarte might be feasible with the new buff... not sure and atm I don't really care enough to find out. So use your fleet command skills and start shooting stuff - you'll make more isk and you can leave the offgrid boosting to everyone else who has a random booster alt.

Edit: and substantia, get off your ass and start FCing - its fun, its easy, and it means you no longer have to wait to get into someone ELSE's fleet.
P.S. FCing sucks, I like to try to make other people do it. |

I've taken my Damnation into sites before, it makes an awesome anchor. DPS sucks though, so I went back to better ships.
Claymore would make a good on site booster, since the DPS is actually reasonable. Plus everyone loves skirmish links (and I have em maxed) Vulture, with an expensive fit, could be effective too. |

If you are asking about command ships in the broader sense then yes Sleip and Abso for shield and armor incursion fleets respectively are useful and sought after. They both put out good dps against frigs in vanguards.
If you are asking about fleet booster commands then no. That booster will just be set at a planet or ss and not get any payout, and that booster will probably be some stupid command processors and co-processored ridiculous fit T3.
This is partly why command bonuses should be made only to operate on grid or within a certain number of kilometers. Will CCP ever do this? It does not appear to be on their radar So we will continue to have the off-grid booster faggotry. |

Hey, what a neat idea. Ya can even fit weapons to command ships. Aren't they versatile :-)

Awesome. :) Heard you're even able to add some drones and defensive modules! ;)
Haven't had any issues yet, finding an incursion fleet with my Sleipnir. Although I have to admit that I'm having way more fun flying a Huginn - I just love to hit the unwanted emergency break pointing on a Deltole. :D
Sleipnir with a gang link module (probably webbing range or shield hp) and two webs can be fun, but sometimes you really have to wait quite a bit to become effective (due to range). I haven't tried fitting artillery instead of autocannons yet, but think that might be a bit tight due to power grid.
As for fleet boosters... yeah, I'd love to dedicate myself to fly one active on grid, but off-grid boosters are just more effective at it. If I'd be in charge, there'd be at least a 50% drop in effectiveness while they're not on grid, but well, I'm not, so let's just hope. :) Looking for more thoughts?
