Edited by: itsatrappp on 20/09/2006 17:51:25 He said to contact him ingame about transportation- someone did and terms were settled on. Now from character transfers if you screw someone over- ccp will makes this correct because of eve mails and forums posts. why is this not being done in this case? it is around the same amount of isk involved.

Character transfers and GTC sales are insured by CCP because they involve real life money.
CCP does not "insure" any other type of "contract" or "transaction."

They should, since we all know ISK = RL money anyhow.
(For the record, I'm all for in-game scams and Darwin, but not for CCP sanctioned ISK <-> money transactions)
/highjack mode off - Got grief?

Only when GTCs are involved...
GTCs are like the SOJs or EVE.

Anything other than character sales and GTC should be made via escrow to avoid this type scam, and yes, you were scammed!

Wait so can you hold a GTC in escrow/collateral pending completion of a contract, thus making CCP bound to enforce it then? Is that allowed? Or other item trades? ie a GTC for a rattlesnake/carrier? wouldnt that make CCP have to enforce them then? ---------------------------------------- Back for a month cus BS5 finished..... |

GTC trades are only guaranteed by CCP if you follow the rules posted in the Sales thread. Specifically, that you pay for it directly with ISKs. ________________________________________________

i believe if items are sold on the forums (ie sell orders) then as long as the transaction takes place at the agreed price then its enforceable - but a big point here it wasnt being sold the actual trade involved hauling via escrow that should have been done via the ingame courier missions - escrow which it was but if he stuffed up with the price then his loss he wont be getting back
so it wasnt on sell forums - its valid
If the buyer had found a way to alter the escrow price thro some sort of exploit changed the price then claimed then it would be a no no but the thing is the seller using ingame mechanics forgot to set the right price (happens all the time) and tbh the buyer gets to keep it - congrats.

Edited by: Ozzie Asrail on 20/09/2006 21:11:16 Sell orders forum means nothing as we've seen by the IPO scams.
GTC and Char sales on the sell order forums are GM enforced, everything else is a free for all. -----

ok good imput from everyone- was just an honest question: )
so for a gm to do anything it has to be a) valid with posting procedures in sell forum and b) invovle a character transfer or c) isk for a game time card
ok i can live with that!

It wouldn't matter if it's on the sell forums or not, CCP only enforce things involving character transfers or GTCs. If someone posts that they're selling their cap charger II BPO for 150billion ISK, and I buy it, but get scammed out of my ISK, CCP isn't going to run to my rescue.
