Do you need some SoE faction to get their ships?
Where do you go to meet NPC that give SoE related missions?

Well, you can also just buy all ships (with the exclusion of 9 ships - 5 super carriers + 4 titans) from the market if people have them up for sale.
But yeah, you can IIRC claim the blueprints or the ships from the LP store too.

Yeah basically lots of players work for SOE and then build and sell the SOE ships to other players - so you can just buy them on the market.
They are not cheap though. |

This Agent Finder tool will help you find agents to work for.
The SOE ships are bought from the SOE LP store (Sanctuary Corporation is also SOE, but different corp so different LP wallet). You can buy either BPC or built ship, but the built ship is extremely expensive.
I would highly recommend learning exploration in a T1 astrometrics frigate (Magnate, Cheetah, Heron, Imicus) before investing in an SOE or T2 exploration ship!

An alternative way to acquire a SoE ship is to find a Rogue Drone Nexus Chip in a Drone Combat Site. The Chip can be exchanged for a BPC in the Loyalty Store.

Great ships though...except for the nestor, apparently that one smells.
Or so I'm told, I'm not spending that much money on a nestor.

You can easily purchase these ships off the market, but they are normally expensive ones. Their intent (my interpretation, that is) is to cover up the lack of skill training with some bonuses without being great as a proper recon or covert ops ship. What you should keep in mind though that this effect shouldn't be taken as granted.
I counted about seven Astero ships being killed recently where the user wasn't using a covert ops cloak, or possessing an adequate sisters probe launcher, and some odd fittings where the Astero apparently became a tank ship that needs extra armor to cut off on its speed.
What the Astero IS ABOUT
- A great exploration or recon ship with low skill cost. You can rush your exploration skills to level four, and use an Astero to compensate for not having level five skills.
- It's acceptable to have one or two T1 modules on the Astero. It allows early access to Covert Ops cloaking and allows it more chances to stay hidden or escape. (It's pointless to fly one without Covert Ops cloaking)
- Very expensive, and makes your life hard to reach break-even to actually start profiteering. It's also made out of paper, but it can escape from danger as long the pilot pays attention, and knows basic PvP escape methods.
What the Astero IS NOT
- A ship which you can fly without a Covert Ops device.
- An exploration ship to compensate for your sub level 3 or 4 exploration skills.
- Something that can get into a battle and survive.
Hopefully you can learn from others, and somewhat mine mistakes done in the past. The ship with proper fits can easily reach the quota of above 100m ISK, and it's quite deep in the pockets of new players. (or poor corps) |

It is however, quite good for hunting other explorers.

Honestly as new player it's not a good idea to mission to produce a new SoS ship. You be better off running SoS missions, exchanging your Loyalty Points for SoS launchers, probes, and/or blueprints to get isk to buy the ship. The main reason is you don't have the skills/rep to mine and refine, or purchase the requirements to build the ship for less than people who are specialized in building things. Nor do you have skills/rep to manufacture a ship efficiently.

And anything else that takes longer than the targetting delay after decloaking to warp off (or is too occupied to notice you) PI haulers are also great targets. Occasionally you even get to shoot a low sec miner, or a horribly fit ratting oracle. |

considering probes/launchers more or less sell at the same proportional isk/lp ratio as the ships it won't really make a difference. the only skill you need to build a ship now is Industry 1, the skill barrier to manufacturing is mostly gone now. I do agree it isn't worth mining/refining without skills, but it is rather strait forward to buy the minerals needed. and for what its worth I don't think it is worth mining even with skills.

Something that can get into a battle and survive. I take issue with this.
It is a Vengence with slightly less tank and damage... but more utility, less of an issue with kiters, and cloaking capability.
With very good skills and one pimp armor repper you can tank most frigates, some destroyers, and sometimes even cruisers.
Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

It's worth clarifying that the LP store sells both blueprints for the ship, and also the pre-built ship. A quick look at prices will tell you that the pre-built ship is never worth buying; it is exhorbitantly overpriced. Even if you aren't skilled into industry, you would either want to buy the pre-built ship from another player, or buy the minerals from the market and build it from a blueprint.

Everything in this game can be purchased. The market in this game is a huge part of it. There is nothing that being friendly with a faction gains you access to other than being shoot on sight with the 4 main race's factions if you get below -5 standing.
The 9 ships that J'Poll was talking about can not be purchased on the market nor on contracts because they can not be docked. So you would need to build them yourself or buy them from someone else who would hand it over to you in space.
So now that we have out of the way that everything can be purchased there are some things that can only be purchased in contracts. Blueprint copies is one thing that comes to mind.
So yes everything can be purchased and almost everything is made by players. The only two exceptions that come to mind are skill books and blueprint originals. |

To me it would seem that mission completion and Items purchased from the LP store are player created in that they need effort from a player to exist in game. I've heard the Devs speak on this topic and I do believe if I understand them correctly that they share the same opinion.

Not to mention you can run SoE missions almost ad nauseum without really hurting your empire standing in any significant way.

I keep working on SoE missions but I didn't make a single LP yet. How does it work? Do I need to finish the storyline before making any LP or should I do SoE Faction Warfare (do they exist?)

No, you get LP for any mission you do for SoE. Try going into your Journal(Alt+J, is it? i cant remember, but its on the left side of your screen by default so it should be easy to find) and click on "Loyalty points" Tab. You should be able to see how much LP you have.
You need to be in a sisters of eve station(Use agent finder), in order to open up a Sisters of Eve Loyalty point store. |

Why do the SoE story line vs other nirmal L1 to L4 missions? Is there something special at the end?
I guess the question goes for all types of "storylines" in Eve...

I guess with "story line" you mean the SoE epic arc. The Epic arcs are special and don't give LP. They are still rewarding because they give better rewards and standing than normal missions and there's a big faction standing increase at the end that does not count against other factions.
To earn LP, you have to do missions for normal SoE agents. You might still want to finish the epic arc, as it'll give you jump-start in standing, allowing you to skip lvl 1 and maybe even lvl 2 missions. (Skipping lvl 2 missions is of course only useful if you have the skills to do lvl 3 missions.)
Story line missions are a third thing altogether. You get one after every 16 missions of the same lvl for the same faction and while they don't give LP, they do give good rewards and a boost in faction standing (while normal missions only provide agent & corp standing.) |
