I had the same problem... I returned it and got a GF MX440 128MB instead... However. I got a Radeon 9200 64MB for my alt computer and it works sooo much better I made it my priamry...
Stick to Radeons for EVE. ________________________________________________ "Alle warten auf das Licht - f³rchtet euch f³rchtet euch nicht - die Sonne scheint mir aus den Augen - sie wird heut Nacht nicht untergehen - und die Welt zõhlt laut bis zehn"

I was running 2 clients with my GF2 but vid lag was pretty bad. I bought and exchanged several different fx5200's but none would allow me to run a second client simultaneously.
I now have to stay with that lousy gf2 to run 2 clients and it drives me absolutley nuts

Your not supposed to put it in your cpu, it fits into the AGP slot.

Edited by: Draximus Prime on 23/10/2003 02:19:36 First thing to do is delete your cache directory which by default is;
c:\program files\cpp\eve\cache
If that doesnt work, you may have faulty graphics card drivers, try updating them at Nvidia's Website
If that doesnt work, try a full reinstall of EVE. You will need this file to patch with if you do this.
Other than that... no idea

Try rightclick the exefile, go to compatibility and select win98 compatibility,,, this fixes some of the startup problems with eve... no idea why, but it does. (Win XP)

I had the same problem and had to swap back to a 9800 Pro, however someone said that if you enter an incorrect password at the login, let it fail, then enter the right one, that fixes it. Bizarre if it works... ____________________________________

I had a similar problem with my new Radeon 9600pro. Everything ran fine except Eve, which would invariable crash after a minute or two. Problem turned out to be too low a voltage on the AGP slot - Eve uses DirectX 9 and hence more of the hardware acceleration on the card, thus needs more power and puts more strain on the slot. Raising the AGP slot voltage by 0.2v cured the problem completely.
No idea if yours is the same problem, mind... :-)

I experienced no problems whatsoever when I swapped a GeForce3 for a GeForce FX5200. Game actually runs smoother, and I see the sun's occlusion very nice. Moreover, running both Eve-TQ and Eve-Chaos works perfectly. A bit bumpy though but thats probably due to my CPU (Celeron-T 1.3GHz).
Updating the drives may indeed help though.
Good luck.

A friend of mine had exactly the same problem with his brand new FX 5900 Ultra. He could log in but couldn't get to the character selection screen. He even tried his card on my PC and the same thing happend. The thing resolved it's self when he re-installed windows (he added the card whitout re-installing WinXP which, appart from EVE, did not cause any problems).
