I'm all for the RP.
Honestly, I'm really fond of knightalk, damselspeak and orcgarble and ****.
But in EvE, it's so fast and close and personal...
Why have:
Quote:Scout: "Admiral, permission to report, sir?"
Admiral:"Go ahead"
Scout: "Admiral, forward marine force recon scout reporting twelve war targets in the system, request new orders, sir"
Admiral: "Roger, proceed to next system and report"
Scout: "Sir, aye aye, sir"
When we can have:
Scout: "FC ?"
Admiral:"Go for FC."
Scout: "We have 12 WT in here, what's next ?"
Admiral: "Ok, jump +1 and report."
Scout: "On it."
Truly in EvE, more than in any game I know, you are roleplaying yourself. |

But such banter already exists pretty much in every organized alliance, OP.
FC: OK scout go plus 1
Scout: Jumping - system is clear
FC: Fleet jump fleet jump warp to outgate scout plus 1
Scout: Jumping - 2 neuts in system one thrasher on the gate griffin on 5 AU scan
FC: OK try to get us tackle on the thrasher - fleet get ready if the griffin shows up on grid you switch and blap the griffin.
Scout: POINT!
FC: Jump jump jump kill the thrasher
Random corpie: Secondary point
Random corpie 2: Webbed
Random corpie: Down
FC: Get his pod
Scout: Pointed...
Random corpie: Griffin on grid...
...
...

And to the OP: There are many RP corporations active in EvE. If they act the way you state as example I would not be able to say.
However, you could always browse the Alliance & Corporation Recruitment Center part of the forum to find a suitable Corporation that fits your play style and/or start a thread there yourself, stating your wish to join such a corporation.

Candi sits down in Ezwal's lap softly, giving little flick to her long, blonde braids to send then over her shoulders with a childish smile. She glances down at her datapad, shuffling her little butt around a little to get comfy.
Hey Ezwal, check this add out.
Candi turns with a childish grin, lifting her goggles and resting them on her forehead. She holds up her datapad to Ezwal's face as her darkly glossed lips curl into an excited smirk.

Candi asks innocently, the warmth of her breath lands on your neck and earlobe as she speaks. Combined with the gentle aroma of what smells like bubblegum, possibly from her shower gel, Ezwal may notice tthe petite little Intaki's accent is strangely laden with what sounds like Achuran under-tones. She thrusts her datapad into the face of Ezwal once again while bouncing in his lap a little.

Then I realized I talk and act different when I'm on this character and do stuff that my other characters don't do.

Last time people tried an alliance everyone got mad and left.

@OP, with a name and your looks I seriously doutb you would even be accepted in any corp., as far as serious roleplay is concerned in a combat situation, there is absolutely no time to engage in RP'ing period. This is a serious moment when you are in a fleet and an FC will NOT under any circumstance tolerate any RPing while engaged with opposing fleets.
I am sure that what videos you may be refering to are done because FCs have enough on their hands to deal with and any amount of roleplay would hamper operations and would result in getting a fleet wiped out because you want to ask "permission" to what ever you're trying to do. |

I'm not that much of an RPer but from what I've seen over the years and what I've heard about usually the more hardcore aspects of an MMO are separated. What I mean is you can either be general or be focused but you can not be focused on everything. So in this game and in other's if you want to do hard core RPing then you won't be able to do hard core PvP fleet ops etc.... The kind of formalities you are talking about would seem to me to make fleet coms less effective.
I heard that years ago the CVA guys were much more strict in their RP like for example only flying Amarr ships. To be effective in combat they've had to let some of that stuff go however they still do a decent amount of RPing from what I've heard. Again I'm not involved in any of it so this is third party info but I think you get the point.
I think ideally you'd want to RP in chat channels while not doing anything important and when on voice coms running fleet ops you'd likely want to effective at combat more so than RP. However it's just my opinion. |
