Some of this already exists in similar forms but the expanded idea behind these Black Holes, Ion Storms and Nebulae are primarily as follows;
Black Holes might exist as permanent for some and random events for other Black Holes. The random Black Holes would appear from time to time and be detectable with scanners as they began to appear allowing time for discovery or escape depending upon the type of Black Hole. Some might appear suddenly with a shorter period of time for discovery.
Some might be desirable encounters others might be undesirable encounters each providing various resources as may be defined but still existing with the same laws of physics drawing ships into them with whatever random results that would occur and expelling them within the same system or across the EVE universe like worm holes.
These random results might include;
1. Unassigned Skill points or discovery of a trained skill up to predefined level 2. Ship morphing into a specialized already existing ship type or possibly a new type. 3. Ship destruction or damge 4. Unique items 5. Particular ship functions which might exist in functionality for a predetermined amount of time. For example, increased cap for the piloted ship for a few days, weeks, or?? then the function would cease or?? 6. Transportation of the ship to an area in the EVE universe in a "Lost condition" rendering the star map unusable for a pre-determined amount of time or until a particular number of star systems had been travelled through emulating navigational systems being able to identity the location of the ship as it re-discovers the star systems in which it is travelling reactivating the Star Map in it's entirety or constellation by constellation until the navigational system is able to determine the region and is able to activate more of the star map. 7. Disruption of ships and structures within the system while these Black Holes appear. 8. Various effects on outposts and POS's 9. Some might contain a nexus within them of several exits that a pilot would then choose.
Ion Storms would appear from time to time travelling through several systems and detectable with scanners as they began to appear allowing time for discovery or escape depending upon the type of ION Storm. Some might appear with less time for discovery.
These storms would disrupt ships in various ways, disable gates, affect travel speeds, outposts and POS's.
Some might contain new types of NPC's that live within them including their ships and equipment recoverable as loot or BPC's and other resources and equipment
Other types of ION Storms might bring benefits as in; 1. Supercharging cap for a pre-determined amount of time. 2. Providing ships within them a means of escape making them undetectable by any kind of scanners. 3. Recoverable resources as in simple or complex reactions 4. Supercharging shields or armour for a pre-determined amount of time. 5. Increasing DPS of ammo within the ships hold or other effects on launchers or turrets for a pre-determined amount of time and only upon the ship(s) that encounter these storms.
Nebulae would be similar to ION storms with the exception that they would exist in fixed locations but much, much larger and again any ships within them would be undetectable depending upon the type of Nebulae.
Some of these Nebulae might also contain NPC's or other resources and affects as mentioned above.
Other events and results remain open to further discussion and if anything, it is hoped that this posts stimulates further discussion.

I don't understand why an intense gravitational force will turn my Rupture into a Naglfar.
Although, the supercharged cap/shields sounds fun - should only last until you jump, but you can risk a run through the Ion storm and double your shields, then jump on someone who thinks you're an easy kill :D |

Eve Online is Science Fiction Spaceships, not Magical Fantasy Fairyland.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.

The fact that this has to be explained every other thread makes me sad for the future of human education.

We already have black hole effects, they make my missiles almost cool and increase your ship speed.
The not so funny thing is, I cannot go to yesterday and do it all over again
