Anyone ever try to use it for solo piracy?
Figure jamming, webbing and scramming might mess someone up..

Main problem with using Blackbird as soloship is the dmg output from only 3 launchers. You can jam, scram, web a target so it sit still and don't hit you back much but it will take a good while to wear out the targets defense since you don't have much to shoot with.

Blackbirds were, are and allways will be the second-best cruisers in the game. The best cruiser is still the Scorpion
A BB might not be able to kill another ship, but you can defend yourself perfectly - if nessesairy against multiple attackers and battleships. Most battleships and cruisers will tank its damage, though. Same goes for Scorp. I¦ve seen Scorpions defend themselves against 5-6 attackers and it works. But to destroy targets Scorpions and Blackbirds are the wrong ships.
Both ships have their role in piracy and both can also be used for solo-piracy. It simply depends on enemy force and setup.

Last time I (my PvP main) took on a Blackbird in a Vexor I was jammed 100% of the time by Multispec IIs. My medium drones popped the Blackbird in about a minute (guess he panicked and didn't warp), by the time his backup arrived I was long gone, having warp-aligned. At least they managed to save his loot for him.
But the 1600mm plate idea seems like a very good one. Survivability is the biggest issue for the BB and drones are a problem. |

Technically the BB can work pretty well for solo piracy as long as you pick targets very carefully. Otherwise, you really can't do anything w/o someone else backing you up. Just the other day I tanked a T2 BB (Falcon) in my (at that time) poorly fitted Raven along with his Maller buddy. Just shows that even then they didn't have the firepower to drop a Raven fast enough (at least not fast enough since I had a buddy insta-ing over in his Apoc ). So make sure to only take on targets you can effectively take down if you're going solo.

Isn¦t the Scorpion a cruiser???
Seriuosly - in my eyes the Scorpion is a "cruiser". It¦s DPS is lower than a lot of cruisers. But as i said: to defend yourself there is no better ship than an EW-master.
Scorps and Blackbirds share some things: EW and lack of DPS.
My advice to BB owners is to get a gangmate with a damage-dealer-cruiser. As team you can easily kill battleships. Alone you will maybe have some frustrating experiences when you attack a NPCing BS.

Fitted with 2 x Ballistics in low and a large shield extender II you can take all T1 cruisers but struggle with a BC or higher. Decent missile damage skills make things happen a whole lot quicker.
I recently chased of a Curse and an ugly looking Matar cruiser with good jamming skills.
I really recomend the Blackbird !

lol, poor girl...
He's making fun of the Scorp lass... He's basically calling it a big expensive cruiser since all it can do is crusier level stuff.
Although with some decent tanking skills and t2 torps, IT IS THE KING OF CRUSIERS!!!!
I tried to take out a tier 1 minmatar BS once (I can't remember minmatar ship names for the life of me...) with my scorp. Jammed him, scrambled him, but I couldn't get through his tank and his NOS was telling me it was time to book it. So I think I know what he means... The scorp can take out any cruiser out there with decent skills, but it's pretty low on the BS spectrum, if not the bottom...

Really, the only ship in the BB/scorp family that can layeth the smacketh down is the recons.

Its easy to fit for anti frig and be able to kill some none drone cruisers. But notice a tempest pop you in one wolly. so its about getting the hell out, when you see smtg bigger then a cruiser.
I had one 2 years ago.
I Found a MegaT in a belt miningm, warped in on him, Jammed, scrampled and started slowly to nos him to death. while i Had 1 heavy launcher SLOWLY killing him. At around half armor, some rats spawned in the belt, and they killed my poor little BB.

A really effective 3 man gang config is as follows: 1. Interceptor/T1 tackler friggie. 2. A damage dealer(t2 fitted cruiser/BC :Cyclone works well). 3. A Blackbird.
Tackler finds em and when the BB arrives and jams. Its 90% sure that the gankee is toasted.
The missing 10% consists of the odd FOF fitted missile boat(still unlikely) or someone who gets drones out in time(with enough skills to finish the inty really fast).
