Perhaps this tactic might have worked 1.5 years ago - freeze the EVE code back then, and do NOTHING else to it. Maybe not 1.5 years ago, but whenever.
[SURVEY]: When did you most enjoy a staisfying balance of stuff in EVE with less problems than you see today?

Hmmm was that sarcasm? If not I feel pity for you. 1.5 years ago I hated EVE. I recently decided to give it another chance: I play it every night now.

I was just thinking that there seem to be more whiners now than before. Was thinking that maybe some people were happy back in Beta or something.

No, I was hoping for someone to say something NICE, like 'I remember back in EXODUS when we had xyz, and there was no zyx' and it was great'.
Why is everyone so moody tonight?

All online games are like looped rollercoasters. The bugs comes and goes all the time, but when we believe some are gone for good, we get some new ones. Its just natural for onlinegames, since they are continuously under developement. And EVE is no exception.
That does not change the fact that CCP just makes the best game on the market, and is the best gaming company around!!!

Edited by: Darksaber64x on 26/09/2006 21:10:11 Games change. Sometimes I yearn for how missiles worked pre nerf, when I could nuke interceptors in a few torps, but then again, it's a good thing they changed it for the better. Balanceing is a huge thing, tipping one way or another all the time.
New stuff, changing things, it's all needed to maintain a healthy game. If eve had been stuck in the same stuff since launch, there would be far fewer, if any, people still interested.
Some changes people will hate, those same changes some people may love, and others just don't really care.
I like the changes for the most part, keep the changes coming.

There have been some brief 'golden ages' though. Those periods where a patch has been rolled out, and the major issues ironed out that came out of the patch and there is a brief lull in whining before the instas/lag/level 4 agents/nerf Caldari/Amarr/Minmatar/Gallente/Jove threads start again. Also, the brief times when there have been hardware upgrades that have made an impact and we've been able to shoot at each other freely without having the fun snatched away by stuff beyond our control. Then, just like trying to bail out a sinking boat with a colander, more people flood in and we gradually get back to where we were once more. |

remove the rose tinted glasses and move away from the keyboard... :)
Eve was no better in 2003, 2004 or 2005 than it is now...
There are no more whiners than there were, ratio wise anyway, the more people you attract, if 1 in 100 of them complain, its a lot of whiners with 150k subs... :)
Not saying whiners are bad, as eve does need changing and the lag does need fixing... Posting the sky is falling every nite though doesnt really help...
Imagine the whiners if they froze the code from now, and only big fixed.. in 6 months time.. OMG content!! in 12 months time OMFG content...
in 2 years time OMFG i`m playing WOW cos eve has gone.. :(
I have been playing eve since april 2003, and i wouldnt go back to any date previous... never... they were good times, but rose tinted glasses are powerful tools...

My favourite time in this game was then T2 was first being introduced. The only T2 ships were interceptors, and yes, I loved flying one :) Too bad it's getting weak now :(
(Getting 3 T2 blueprints in the early lottery kinda helped me rememberming those times as well =))

Just release EVE-OFFLINE as a stand-alone game where you are the ONLY pod pilot in existance. And sell various flavors of it starting back at 1.00.0000 or whatever the release version was :P Think anybody'll buy it ? ;)
Hmmz, how about a LAN multiplayer game, where you get a tournament-style arena, maxed out skills, and unlimited modules at fixed prices ? Get a certain amount of ISK to start with, get more for killing enemy ships (based on fittings strapped on them).
YAY ;) __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

More players = more whiners.
The games as balanced as it's ever been it's just that the forums have gone downhill.
