The Federation Navy Comet used to have a unique look, blue light, white body, it looked more like a police ship as it is supposed to be ("Originally created as a standard-issue police patrol vessel").

There was much more angst over the change to the Navy Megathron and nothing came of that. I highly doubt CCP will return the Comet to its former glory.
On that note... now I can't play the song "Cops" when PvPing with it.

Well, I wasn't around, or at least don't remember the change to the navy mega. What was it like before?
Plus, the description of the comet specifically says it is a police ship, and it used to look like one.

I agree, this camo just dont look right, and kills the lore of the ship. whats the point of big flasy lights on a police vessel if it is colored differently.
It would be like buying a police car for nostalgia and then giving it army cammo. The effort taken, defeats the whole original purpose |

A lot of sci-fi involves a merger of the military and police role into the space navy as the resources required to maintain them as separate groups is staggering and inefficient. Take Starfleet from Star Trek, they serve the role of police, military, advancers of scientific exploration and providers of humanitarian aid. Realistically the Gallente Navy can probably paint their ships different to suit the roles assigned to them however, the original blueprint would be a naval combat vessel and that's what you're receiving.
Perhaps in the future if paintable hulls become possible you can bring back your police-esque Comet however, for the fluff to say it was "originally designed as a police ship" automatically implies that what you're looking at now is NO longer that. EVE doesn't offer the sale of "antique" ships, everything is presumed to be the current production blueprint as issued by the manufacturer.

The point I was getting at is that they took something unique and different and made it like all the other navy ones. I'm sure many people, such as myself, like it partially because of how it was uniquely painted. |

Damn, I hadn't noticed the shuttle since the thumbnail is still yellow for me and I prefer the looks of the Minmatar shuttles, but now I definably prefer the looks of Minmatar shuttles. With the dark green on it, at a quick glance it looks more Caldari than Gallente because it almost looks black. CCP, what have you done to the good looking ships in the game!?!? |

I don't know, i thought the new gallente shutte was refreshing and has a pretty nice shader and coloration. The yellow one reminded me so much of the naboo fighters from Star Wars Episode 1, lol.
For the navy comet, i agree its annoying for it to have changed like that. Plus, they even made the NPC one like a Cop ship, why not give the players the same texture? |

Well, I haven't seen the gallente shuttle out of the station or even in yet, just the preview, which doesn't show what it ends up looking like, but even so, it was one of the ships that stands out from the rest. |
