They're actually very easy to take down if you do it right. the trick is cap. if the carrier has no scram or support then u can do it with 3 or 4 nos domis way too easily. u need quite a lot of ships to actually break a good carrier pilots tank but take out his cap with nos/neut cap injected domis and it's easy pickings. also 15 heavy drones with good skills can easily lay waste to it's complement of fighters and whichever ship is taking fire from them can just warp around and let them follow them while the other 2/3 empty the carriers cap.

No, it's just bad design that the carrier pilot can't call the fighters back while they're warping around.

Not in the slightest. It's a valid game tactic that many use. The carrier pilot can always tell his fighters to return to him at any time (even tho it's slightly bugged atm)

Edited by: Eron Lygera on 29/09/2006 12:44:45 I read in some thread a while back that there would be a "dont warp" order put ingame, to give carrier pilots the ability to stop thier fighters from warping after a target.
But... meh... me cant find it no more.
Perhaps I dreamt it?

What...like on a date? Probably not that hard, just compliment it on its smooth curves. Obviously, with Caldari you're going to have to lie through your teeth.

Yep, cap is the HP bar for all capital ships. Can be quite hard with properly fitted cap ships (couple officer mods in right places, mids and lows 100% dedicated to tanking, cap equilibrium significantly over 30%).

Hopefully, the warping ship can align fast / repair quickly / dock or jump into another system. If it can't, fighters will finish it off in after a dozen of jumps.

Also, note that sensor dampeners completely disable a carrier. Seriously, get a Celeste or Arazu on a carrier and he won't be locking anything within the next 3 years.

We popped one in an empire war. I warped in on him sitting at a gate and saw him cloak. I left system while the rest of the gang got into big ships. I went back to the gate but he wasn't there. I started to fly around in dejection and all of a sudden he uncloaks. We got all our damps on him and he sent his fighters after my Malediction. It took him 4.5 minutes to kill me. He then warped off to the planet my pod was at and cloaked. I decloaked him and immediately got podded by his smartbomb. We just kept ramming him after that and he eventually popped.

Taking out a carrier can be very easy or very hard, depends on how it's used. A carrier that is used right you will never even get a glimpse off while inties hit you with fighters, and that makes it very very hard to kill...

We popped more than one without going for his cap but in a head-to-head way. In order to pop him more or less in not to much time we take the total number of fighters of 3 carriers with us. You do the maths on how many ships you need for that.
The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my corps, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.

Sometimes it's intentional to warpout to lure fighters...
Other times it's just a matter of warping out... and on many occasions, after warping to a safespot, said interceptors found themselves quite dead, forgetting that after a few secs, fighters would follow

Bingo, and such i believe that last example isn't the best one since it just proves the carrier pilot wasn't all that skilled to begin with. _______________

only way an inty would ever die to fighters is if the inty was not moving at all. Fighters have crap tracking.
I have an alliance mate who has engaged several carriers solo with a particular dual rep / cap injected / smart bomb domi setup and every time managed to kill all their fighters, rendering them completely useless.
And as previously stated, if you want to kill a carrier (or any capital ship) just nos it and it will die fast. Capital ships are meant for fleet warfare and without good support they are pretty easy for a small squad that knows what its doing to kill.

Hence the reason why i have upwards of 500 Drones in the bay of all types and sizes, the combat ones being T2(light,Medium and heavies),apart from it's fighter complement.....

Edited by: DeadDuck on 29/09/2006 17:11:53 It will depend really of the fit and the pilot skills...
A pair of RZR pilots managed to kill a carrier with a blastertron and an Deimos in less then 5 minutes in H-PA.
On the other hand I saw a carrier pilot tank for a big while about 70 guys including 30 Bs in XZH before he dock... he undocked again and the same happen untill he messed up things and went outside docking range... when he poped the loot was full of officer and faction items.
