My memory may be faulty, but it seems to me that I recall that one could do a mission where, if the mission space contained asteroids, you could finish the mission, but not turn it in, and then for the next week (when the mission expired) you could farm the ore. So yesterday, I finished a mission that had a lot of nice asteroids, and I farmed it some, and then had to log off. Today when I logged back in the asteroids were gone. When did that happen? Somebody said "Rhea", but I couldn't find anything in the patch notes.

In order to farm mission pockets like that, you need to not complete the mission. |

Confirming you can't complete the mission, you need to leave the objective incomplete to be able to farm the asterioids.

imo complete the mission, and take another mission. Very likely to pay more than any mining would.

I once got a storyline mission after doing a bunch of research agent missions that had one 5000 unit arkanor roid. The funny part is that it was in a .9 system.
It has supplied my megacyte needs for a while now.
If you don't need the minerals and/or there is nothing special about them it is probably best to just move on.

Confirming that if you finish the mission = no repawn.
Best missions for farming roids are multiple pocket missions like "The Score, L4" The ability to mine 1.47 Million units a day (for 7 days) of Pyrox in Minmatar space feeds my Noxium habbit nicely.
EvEuni has a pretty good 'mining in missions' break-down.

not all missions will despawn the next day, some will stay but you will have to clear the rats again

Asteroids in missions will also despawn during server downtime. |

If your not a combat capable character, running level 1 security missions and then mining the ones that spawn out of region rocks can be very viable. It also means you can mine profitably in higher security space and you are in an instance not a generic belt so harder to find. |

while that can be true, OP has 89mil skill points. Usually I wouldn't have looked but it was in his sig.
IMO time spent training for mining barges is well, mostly wasted. Not sure how much time really goes into a venture, but given the logistical workings of mining, I can't imagine it is much better. Plus the point where mission running takes over as a better form of income is rather low. I just can't suggest mining to anyone.
