Seems to get all the same bonuses... but has a couple more slots, PG, and CPU to play with. Only downside I can even see is that it's slower and has a bigger sig radius. I mean hell! It's even cheaper!(or about the same price depending on where you look)

Slower, biggr sig, more skills.
Those are it's disadvantages, but IMO, the advantages outweigh them.

Essentially, yes.
You get 1.5x the firepower and 2x the armour for considerably less ISK, and unlike on a Zealot, you can actually run a medium rep forever. Just don't mention the difference in agility.
It is actually a pretty good deal as relatively few people have bothered grinding their way through Battlecruiser V.
A word of advice though, don't even think of NPCing in it. Damnation does L4s much faster.

How does the damnation do missions faster? Missles aren't really my specialty(though I guess those would be easier to train the command ships at the point I'm in...) But could that midslot make a big difference?

Yes it is slower, takes ages to align and is a bit iffy when your target is more then 25km away when using Pulse lasers, but on the other hand, it will tank forever (I use a double T2 med rep, DB Medium cap booster setup on mine) and will keep ships such as Blasterthrons off your back for a good few minutes (I tried this on SiSi).
But yes, I will agree that the Damnation is better for PvE, fit a couple of T2 cap rechargers, beams and heavy missile launchers on that and it'll do a lot better :P ---------

Not sure what your skills are but there is no Need to run a T2 medium rep all the time in lvl4 missoin. Most the time in lvl 4 I run a t2 10mn AB all the time and cycle the Rep when needed. Once in a while i run both AB and rep along with 4 heavy medium beams for a long time before the cap gets low.
on the topic of the command ship, I am going to start working that way slowly will take a while.

I think Imechal Revpeim was talking PvP.
Also: Absolution is pretty mutch a better Zealot yes, but a worse off solo due to it's slow speed. It owns in gangs thought when you got tacklers and a warpin spot.

Absolution is a level 4 beast.
It does more than 50% more damage than a zealot (excluding drones) and tanks better than an apoc.
Since the absolution far outdamages the damnation and tanks well enough to never have to warp, I'm curious as to how it completes missions faster????

The Absolution takes too long for my liking to close range. When you are being shot at by four BS which insist on spreading out, afterburning away and maintaining anywhere between 30km and 50km range, the Absolution becomes intensely annoying. The nice thing about the Damnation's missile slots and turret range bonus, is it outdamages a pulse Absolution at long range - because beyond 30km the pulse Absolution will not be hitting at all. Chasing NPCs around a deadspace pocket is not my idea of fun. I have found L4s in an Absolution a rather irritating experience.
Also, the Damnation beats the Absolution at killing Angels.
I suppose I could have gone with a beam setup, but frankly that contradicts the RoF bonus a bit. Damnation may be doing less damage up close, but I have found it far more flexible.

Absolution is significantly better than the Zealot for Level 4s, the damnation does nowhere near the same damage.
I don't know what fit the person above said they were running for their Zealot but you can most definately run a repper indefinately. the Absolution has more cap issues than a Zealot in level 4s, you have to be a bit careful in the Absolution when on MF Crystals or you may cap out.
My current Absolution fit for Level 4s is:
6 Heavy Beam IIs, TS Nos Domi AB, Domi Web, Cap II Corpum A Med Repper, 2*TS EANs, TS Thermic, 3 HS IIs
The Corpum Repper is a _must_ for level 4s tbh, the difference in repping power more than makes up for the sig radius increase over the Zealot in missions, and its reasonably cheap for the boost it gives. Also, Fit beams not pulse, the range you get off standard crystals is excellent, MFs do damage up to 20K also.
All in all when i first flew the Absolution I was disappointed with it, and went back to the Zealot, but after loosing countless Zealots I swapped back to the Absolution and now after flying it for a while am very impressed, its much more sturdy, its damage is sickly and the ability to use rat specific drones only helps make things go smoother.

having been a absolution pilot on my last chr.
i must admit. some of you guys need to know how to fit an abso for lvl 4 missions
putting on t2 heavy pulses is bad mmmkay?
t2 heavy beams ftw webber and dual MARII rocks and will do any lvl4 mission to date so far as i know.
infact I rarly run out of cap with it.
rabge is good to. 10-25km with gleams and 60+km with aruara's . get ya gun skills up lads and you might actually enjoy blasting away with one.
