Posting here so the OP doesn't feel lonesome and stuff.
Treason never prospers. What is the reason?
Why, if it prospers, none dare call it "treason."

In all seriousness, the system requirements haven't changed in over ten years. The only system adjustment I've made in all this time is to sharpen my patience with fools.

CCP uses hardware which is at minimum spec and recommended spec to test the releases, but make no mistake: those clients are run with lowest settings at 1024x768 for the minimum spec.
Also, if you're looking for mobile processors, they have a tendency of being clocked lower than normally and going with a 4-core i7 at 1.7Ghz is going to be equal with a dual-core i3 at 1.7GHz. Clock speed is everything for Eve. |

DirectX 11 support is recommended.
I've not checked recently, but it used to also support DirectX 9 (XP) if selected through the launcher configuration (click on the gear at the top right).
Most video vendors have withdrawn support for anything earlier than 9, so if you are still getting driver updates, then that machine is probably supported. |

You can by-pass the useless launcher. Thank goodness!
Okay, so portable? Do you mean laptop or desktop?
I am running EVE on an old Pentium 4, dual thread 3GHz, with 4GB RAM and a GT 630 graphics card. I have nothing but Linux (cut down) and EVE running and on the lowest settings, there is a small grey area that it could be my lag or the server lagging before TiDi kicks in.
If you are looking for a laptop http://www.amd.com/en-gb/solutions/laptops/consumer you used to be able to order directly. Avoid any machine that uses Intel Graphics processing. Try and find some decent bus speed on the graphics unit. Processor, RAM and having Nvidia or AMD graphics is far more important than battery life, screen size, hard disk space and such. Make sure to have your laptop cleaned every six months. Seriously. You know the old adage, "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" With laptops, the first two things are normally, "Are you trying to game on a wireless connection?" and "Have you checked for heat problems lately?"

Adding Windows 8 support doesn't make us all upgrade our systems. Geez.

Confirming DirectX 9 is still possible for EVE |

most new laptops will run optimus which will use the intel graphics processor when it doesn't need the graphics card, and most decent laptops come with graphics cards now too, but the intel graphics processor aint too bad tbh i still managed to run total war using it

What is your end result desire?
I have a few older business class HP laptops (8440 and 8470) that will run eve pretty decently and will load captains quarters....as long as your zoomed out. Zooming in causes stuttering and performance issues, PvP'ing on it would probably be a bad idea.
Just depends what you want to do with it I guess |
