470 people in channel at peak... a lot of questions.. the chatlog will be properly edited and posted. (We had too many people joining and quitting, so that needs to be removed)
On other hand, some great questions and equally good answers. My hands hurt like hell now.

Log for the devchat is now posted here.
Thanks to all who came to listen, to ask questions and to the devs for answering.
We're going to have a followup in the next couple of days with the left over questions. :)

Warp Core Stabilizers will give penalty to targeting range and scan resolution, about 50% for tech 1.

There's a lot of people at CCP who are sure about fixing instas... it's agreeing with each other that we have issues with.

It's a hard problem by now, all the balancing with regards to gate camping and so forth in the past 3 years have been built up around instas. Simply removing them as Oveur suggested in the dev chat would be a disaster IMO, no battleship or cruiser would stand a chance against a very small group of properly fitted ships (frigs with webs, an EW ship and a couple damage dealers). And it'd turn the mwd into a mandatory module.
Warp to 0km and AP at 15km is a much better solution IMO. Dictor bubbles, static bubbles and frigs who can jump through after a ship are more than enough to catch people even with a 0km warp. And it seems like a very easy fix to implement.

The OMGrawr staff provided us with the unasked questions, some of the Devs will be answering most of them over the next few days and sending them to the OMGrawr team for inclusion into the chat logs.
There were a lot more questions submitted than the ones we had time for during the chat.

Very very usefull !
I hope the rate of these dev-chats increase more, since it is the way to directly speak to Dev's , and the providers of the chat filter out the (sorry) dumbass stuff some people ask.
hope to see more, was a good read. __________________________________________________________________ ل Don't worry about your beard, when your head is about to be taken لل لللللللللللللللللللللللللللللل- Sun Tzu, The art of War - |

We're glad people enjoyed the chat. :D
We're also hoping that we can do this a little bit more regularly than once a year. ;) Maybe every couple of months. Especially if the various Kali parts come along at regular intervals.
There are always plenty of questions.

Just wanted to say thanks for a great many answers. Very informative Log, and looking forward to the responses from the remaining questions.
":( However, we still have a LOT of questions. We're going to do what happened at the last devchat, and that's bundle the questions up and have Oveur and the others answer them inteview-style, and post the answers as well as the log for this chat."

Just remove instas but implament a warp to 1 or 2km mark. While Auto pilot still does 15km.
Warp to 0km is no good though because we would just bonuse off it and fly 100km away. I'm an ! I will always be an ! that is all I have to say |

Just read the DEV chat transcript.
I would personally like to thank who ever is in charge for not being able to fix the AMarr issue after over 6 months (since RMR launched) and on top of that manages to nerf Minmatar as well.
Bloody well done, bye!

Edited by: Idara on 20/10/2006 21:21:10 I have no idea why instas are such a damn problem.
Everyone has them. Or wants them.
Introduce a skill that reduces warp-in distance by 3km each level. Boom, bam, delete all instas on the same grids with stations/gates, no more server "lag" caused by them, and no more people copying thousands of them one day because they're getting nerfed the next day.
All pilots that have been around and operate in general areas, or anywhere really, knows that to survive, you need instas. If you don't have them, you're wasting time travelling and you're an easier target. All nub pilots want them because the older characters have them and they want to have the same benefits. Either introduce a damn skill or just do a 0km warp in.
If instas are truly such a strain on the poor servers, I still find it hard to believe that an item with 3 spatial coordinates could possibly lag the server even in the amounts present on Tranquility, then eliminating instas should be a top priority.
Do the simple thing, get RID of them NOW, free up all that "space" for real server functions and then if 0km warp in is too easy, nerf it later and make people need a skill.
Fluff it up and say that CONCORD are experimenting with more accurate warp computers that will enable all pod-interface ships to warp to 0km of a target, and if the "experiment" doesn't work, nerf it back to 2.5km, or 5km or 10 or 15 again and then introduce a skill or something.
Hell, change to 0km and delete all bookmarks and say that a virus infected CONCORDs mainframes and spread to the navigational computers of pod-interfaced ships deleting all saved nav coordinates. Yeah, you'll **** people off, but ****, I think with the servers being such absolute ****s lately a fix on the "lag" caused by BMs would be right up at the top.

The line 'apparantly I don't play Amarr or have ever heard of them, I read it on the forums.' should be triggering your sarcasm detector. Duh!
Note that 'read' in this context is pronounced 'red' rather than 'reed', ie past tense. Tux appears to be saying that he has been informed on the forums that he has never heard of amarr, and clearly doesnt play them, rather than agreeing with that statement.
