Hello all I am really new to the world of EVE. I dont know its background... I discover new things each day though. Does the game have expansion projects? Will the developpers run new servers in the future? How do you see EVE's future? growing? stable?

Edited by: Nullity on 04/10/2006 20:47:03 The game currently has two expansions planned, Revelations (which is divided into three parts, with the first part coming out this month), and Buddha (which has no release date yet). CCP does not charge money for expansions (besides the subscription fee), and according to various developer statements, they never will.
There will never be another server either. The Chinese one was made because if it wasn't, EVE would never have been able to be sold there.
Personally, I think EVE is growing a bit too fast right now, but I think in the long term, everything will be okay, and it'll get back to being stable.

I think EVE has another 5-7 good years left in her. If anything I think the world will be expanded even further, with new blades and ramsans, or whatever else, added to improve the load.
I also think EVE has been growing faster lateley, so there are lightening fast changes taking place, and with the load server expiriencese we see some difficulties at the moment. But all will shake down eventually.

Yup! They will announce it ahead of time. Besure to set a long skill training on patch day.

Yann, there is a wealth of background in the Backstory section of the site.
We are in the process of finishing the first part of three parts in our next expansion, Revelations (also known by its internal code name, Kali). You can take a look at some of the features planned for Revelations in its features section.
There are no plans for new servers, although we do have licensed a server in China with a Chinese game client.
The future? [yoda]Cloudy it is![/yoda] Seriously, EVE has grown on a scale that has surprised a number of 'industry insiders'. EVE's popularity has been on the rise and shows every indication of continuing this trend.
Welcome to EVE!

Welcome to EVE!
That is definatley lovely to look at, the steady and unwavering climb upwards, no 'user spikes' no 'fad spikes', just a steady growth. Kind of amazing, if you ask me.

I was here for beta... back in 03, the game was struggling but definately on the right course. I quit playing because the game then to me was really unbearable... then i came back shortly after the expansion Castor was released. The game was much improved and definately headed into the right direction... [thank you for autopilot, this game would be unplayable without it]. i then had to quit again due to lack of time and relationship issues [gotta take care of the girl]. anyways, then i just reactivated about 2 weeks ago, after a couple more expansions... and wow. with everyone the game's possibilities multiply. i cant believe in such a short time since i quit the second time that the appeal of the game has gained interest. I remember back during beta readin up on what the devs had envisioned for this game... and now 3 years later [well probably more than that... they've been workin on this project forever it seems]... anyways, three years later it's right at about where they hinted at then. i can only see this game getting bigger, and getting better. the more they add, the more self sustaining the game becomes. this is definately a game that will have you for YEARS... provided you like the game. i mean shoot, i quit twice and i still keep coming back!

Actually, we try to announce an upcoming patch on the Tuesday or Wednesday before deployment, with patch notes availabe by that Friday. Patches are usually deployed on Tuesday. Patches deployed on other days are generally due to the need to resolve an outstanding issue, such as the recent patch deployed on a Wednesday.

Yep quite reguly the current upcomming ones are the Kali expansions. Will the developpers run new servers in the future?
No part of eve's uniqueness is its a single game server.
How do you see EVE's future? growing? stable?
Currently the developers ahve set up experiments on the test server abd have got reguler players on there doing various tasks to test the system to see whats causing the problems. End result will be that they will know how to fix EvE's problems.
If you want to help the developers test out the problems make a second copy of eve on your computer ina seperate folder and go on the test server remember ing to download the latest test patch if it is needed [ i belive the current test server is the same as the tranquility server]. -----------------------------------------------
