ive recently come back to eve with a new charater , this time purely focusing on the fun frig's provide , well after 4 months using them ( and i do quite well so far if i might say so ;) ) , im having trouble leaping to the t2 ships , im flying through lvl 2's in my tristan atm , but when looking at the t2 afs , the retribution cought my eye , it seems to have amazing prospects for a tank / sniper set up , i thought its resistances were amazing , just one thing , one medium slot? :( , has anyone had a chance to take advantage of this ship ? most people put it down but i see potential there , just wondering about set ups ect , and some info from people that have used them in the past / do use them to give a honest opinion.

I love my retri, but it is certainly not a solo PVP ship. It makes an excellent PVE ship and provides some stiff muscle in small gang fights, as long as someone else can do the tackling.
I much prefer it for L3s over...well......every other ship I own, it's just more fun. ---------- My sig is boring. |

I agree with the previous poster
I fit mine with 4x med pulse 2's
ab2
sar 2 n-type energize plate, and thermic plate hs2 cpr
it is an insane pve ship, and great for small gang ops. It is one of my favorite AF's to fly does lvl 3 missions easily

Exactly the same setup I use, it's the only one I found that worked too

It's a great ship for PvE.
It's also a great ship for pvp. People complain about not having enough mids, but tbh, a lot of T2 frig setups don't even use scramblers when searching for frig vs frig fights anymore. So the 1 mid becomes a lot less of a disadvantage.

drop AB2 and SAR2, and put named ( of faction).. u should save some powergrid.
p.s) u have engineering and electronics lv 5?

yeah i do , and any improvements i could make have been added to my ship fitters's xml , still having problems , named items are working out , BUT i have no intention of spending millions no a small armor rep , as i cnt afford to lose it lol , im gonan go for this ship , i like it alot stat wise , im gonna put down the fittings not working to ship fitter not working properly , ive done the maths myself just to fit the guns and i should have plenty of fitting free , just doesnt add up lol

I was using Quickfit the other day and had much the same problem - couldn't get a perfectly normal setup to fit. I reimported the xml file but still the same.
Looked through the skill ranks and found that it had set everything to level 0! I tried resaving the xml char file and importing it again but still no dice.
Then, the next day, loaded up quickfit, imported the xml after training another skill level and was all fine. That could be your problem...

Umm... SAR II cost about 1m last time I looked and the Retribution costs about 14mil uninsurable. It's really worth spending money on modules to keep it alive!

But since SARII doesn't fit a named module is required. Those are quite a bit more expensive.

Bah, a small 'accomodation" should not cost much, of course, if you go into faction repairers, price goes, but a small acco should be under 2M in a commercial hub! ___________________________________________

i can afford t2 no prob , same as named , i dont want to spend excess on a faction fitting.
i know its petty but i live by , if u cnt replace it , dont use it. with t2 / named , i could lose the ship and giggle about it , but faction? nope :(

Yeah, I can't fit a full rack of med pulse II with a T2 AB/T2 SAR, so I go with a 2/2 loadout. The range difference is too small to really matter, and it lets you keep other T2 junk on there. ---------- My sig is boring. |
