Redundancy is one of the graphics programmers at CCP... if you're lucky he will magicly put his yellow bars on this thread.

Edited by: Redundancy on 12/10/2006 17:45:15 Typically, Maya for 3D modelling and Photoshop for textures (not so much of the Maya on planets though). Generally, the current planet surfaces are created using layers of animated textures, which we originally did in Jennifer, but now would hopefully be done in Jessica (both are in-house tools more tied to our graphics engine than any particular technique).
Try creating a "lightning" texture then animating a quick blend in and out. I suspect we'll be doing much more clever stuff in the future though.

And then get married, right? :P
Anyways.. Perhaps Maya for me next year, atm its all 3D studio max. And of course basic tools like Photoshop. Though great respect for images like 'The Iron Tide'! How the hell do you make image like the big planet on the right, great respect! I do like it how CCP adds so much more then just a game, there is a lot of art flowing around.
Edit: Clicky

Seems like a good time to throw a party.
