Edited by: Korinna on 13/10/2006 02:36:00 This is in reference to deployed outposts belonging to my corporation of which I am a station manager.
The factory and research slots have been driving me insane, and I am trying to figure out if there is a bug, or if I am simply misunderstanding how they work.
When you manage a given factory or research slot, there are 4 options that you can check on or leave off: 1) Allow alliance member usage 2) Allow corporation member usage 3) Allow by standing range 4) Allow by security range
Now, what I assume is that if you don't check any of these boxes, the slot is reserved for use by the corporation (jobs from the corporate hangar) only.
I also assume that if you check allow alliance member usage, that alliance members and their corporations can use the slot for personal and corporate jobs.
I also assume that if you check the allow corporation member usage box, that members of the owning corporation can submit jobs from their personal hangars.
The other two settings SEEM equally self-explanitory.
However, I have been getting mixed results out of our slots. Sometimes alliance members cannot install jobs into slots that have been checked to allow alliance usage. Sometimes corp members and alliance members will install personal jobs into slots we believe to be reserved for corporate use only. When alliance members are blocked from installing a job into a slot that I think they should be able to use, even turning on allow by standing range (and setting it to a range that includees them) doesn't help.
Am I misunderstanding the use of these settings?

They do sound pretty self explainatory, I'd petition and ask for clarification.

Edited by: Nemo Maximillion on 13/10/2006 18:12:54 If this is the same probem I have encountered, it was solved by clicking only 1 of the 4 settings you mentioned. It seems multiple setting cross-cancel out or give variable outcomes. You can set individual slots with different setting but select only one.
Hope this helps a bit.

Interesting, thank you! I had been setting slots to allow alliance and corp members, but never just one of them. I'll give it a try.

Checking the allow alliance box seems to be solving the access problems alliance members were having (and corp members can use it as well under the same flag).
However, they are also able to use any slot that has no boxes checked, which.... just doesn't seem right. Currently we are setting an insane fee to discourage people from using them. Is there some other way?
