So I took the advice to try the Sisters Of Eve... a few jumps later I am at their station... look in cargo... empty... eek!
So went back to Academy station where everything is.
What is the most efficient way to move things around?
Or should it matter, as in leave it where it is? |

Basic Industrial ships will move around relatively small amounts (watch out for gankers if the cargo is expensive). For a brand new player, you may have so little that you can fit it all in a basic Frigate.
If you want to transfer large amounts, you will either need to train into freighters, or use a service such as this:

If you are going to be nomadic (which the Sisters of EVE arc kinda requires you to be) you are going to want to do one of three things...
- have an Industrial ship (race doesn't matter, but for Gallente you are looking at either an Iteron V or Nerus). Even with low skills, it should have enough cargo capacity for a PACKAGED frigate or destroyer + equipment (NOTE: to package a ship, leave it (either by right-clicking> leaving ship or jumping into another ship) > right-click the ship > "repackage"). Be aware though that Industrial ships tend to be on the "flimsy" side of things... so take precautions. The more you load them full of stuff and less tank you have, the more invite a target you become to "suicide gankers."
- carry everything you need in your standard mission ship, unload most of it at the next station, and continue doing the missions. Rinse and repeat.
- courier contracts. This is NOT something I recommend a newbie do... simply because it requires some knowledge of the market value of your stuff (to set the proper collateral) and it takes time. Highlight everything you want to move > right click > make contract > select courier contract > type in the destination system, number of days the contract will be up, the number of days you are willing to wait once the contract is accepted, and set the collateral price.
Eventually you will figure out how you want to distribute your assets in the game... if you want to.
Personally... I like to consolidate my stuff in as few places as possible with only a few "depots" here and there for "just in case" situations. But then you have people like my corpmates who scatter their crap across the game because of "laziness."

i try to centralise but i have assets everywhere i have been operating for any length of time.
for now you will not need to bring much, one or two ships with a couple of fittings will do you for the sisters arc.

So you noticed there's no universal "cheat" bank where everything is stored :D
As the nice people above have already said, you have to shift stuff physically around from station to station if you want to keep the items.
I generally just liquidise (turn into ISK by selling) and then move and buy my stuff again. |

My assets list on JP takes about 5 minutes to load, that's how many stations are listed there.
Most of them have assorted junk (on a roam and unloading some loot / stop in a station and receive that rookie frigate etc.)
I tend to keep my "base equipment" centralized around 3 systems (my current home and 2 back up systems if everything ever goes south).
As for the SoE arc, that will have you travel through all 4 empire, so only take what you need, if you find out you even need something, most likely you can buy it in Arnon or surrounding systems.

You say to the guy in your corp that has a freighter "Hey I need my stuff moved." and then they move it for you. |

I have small caches of stuff all over the universe. [And jump clones spread around too.]
Some people are O.C.D. about that, and try to stay consolidated.
For the SoE arc, I do the entire thing in an Assault Frigate carrying nothing but some ammo, so there isn't a big need to haul stuff around. |

Yes you will need to get over the whole having all of your stuff with you where ever you go idea. You will either have stuff all over the place or constantly be OCD selling and moving stuff so that you don't have station lists over 100 long when you open personal assets.
I tend to just leave stuff where ever it is and only take what I need right now with me. Every once in a while like once every year or two I'll go around and collect random stuff to consolidate. When CCP did the reprocessing changes a while back I spent many hours every single night for over a week collecting all of my stuff into one location to melt what was not sellable. It may have even been over 2 weeks. |

Sell a lot of the stuff you get in starter missions - such as ships you don't need or duplicate skillbooks. You can frequently get more isk if you fly it to a nearby trade hub rather than sell it in the starter system.
You can start the SOE arc in the destroyer you got, but you may want to upgrade to a cruiser about half way through the arc.
Be sure to loot the SOE missions as it will give you a good bit of isk for a new player. |

I'm OCD enough to want to keep my assets list "neat".
You transfer your stuff by placing it in the cargo of whatever ship you're flying over. Industrial ships have a large cargo if you fill up the low slots with Expanded Cargo modules, and you can cram some of the smaller ships in them if you "repackage" them. Otherwise, the bigger ships you'll have to manually fly to your new station (and buy and fly shuttles back to the old station to bring the rest of your ships over).
Every pilot should train to fly one of the basic industrial ships; there is a lot of junk in this game that will need to be transported (mostly because you get more money for it at the "trade hub" stations).
Otherwise, another method of transport is: sell all your stuff except for one ship, fly that ship to the new place, then buy all the stuff again from the market. This game does not have account-bound items; everything can be bought, and there are enough traders that most places are stocked with pretty much everything.
A final method is to put all your stuff in a courier contract and let someone else transport it for you, for a fee. Be careful to set enough of a collateral price so you get your money if they decide to steal your stuff, and pay well enough to entice someone to move your junk for you. |
