Hi there and congrats to all elected members of CSM 2015,
This topic is a request to put hi CSM 2015 agenda the translation of EVE ONLINE client to spanish, this is a well talked about subject that has a lot of potential for new players in the EVE universe and a topic that need to be advanced.
Thank you in advance,
Thank you in advance,
There is no shame in saying you don't know something, and there is no glory in keeping knolege to yourself.

It's a slightly larger issue than just the translation of the client (though that's far from inconsequential)
It also requires support staff, which is probably the bigger cost.
I'll bring it up with them, but I wouldn't expect fast motion on it. (Just trying to manage expectations, rather than quash them)
Woo! CSM X!

It's strange that CCP maintains support for Japanese but not Spanish. Not only is Spanish a far more common language, gaming culture among Spanish speaking population is in line with western gaming. While majority of Japanese gamers tend to be much less receptive to western genres. |

Thx for the Quick reply Steve Ronuken, sorry for the title type-o CMS vs CSM...
The potential of NEW player growth in the Spanish speaking countries is BIG and a much needed fresh air of culture diversity. Spanish is the 2nd most spoken native language in the world more so than english and it does not make sense that Japanese the 9th gets to have a client, especially at a 4 to 1 population ratio.

As far of support goes you could try a player run service aid, helping translate issues....who knows a new economy of help for isk?
Gaming wise we game A LOT, but with the limitation that if its not in spanish not many of us play it. There are a TON of games examples I can point out Spanish speaking gamers presence....from Minecraft, LOL, World of Tanks, WOW, Battle Field just to name a few...the metrics are there.
And then there is this POST by "CCP Eterne" 2 years a go where the intention of making a translation was evident, WHAT HAPPENED to that iniciative?

Will distribute your response in the comunity, Thx again for your reply,
Juvenuis

I fully support this proposal, not only the spanish speaking community is much bigger than many others that actually get support on their own language but the player base for spanish speaking ppl from many parts of the world is increasing for the past 3 years. |

Also CCP should remember how important is the translation of the client in the first hours of user experience.
One of the reason that make the spanish speaking comunity so small is that it takes greater interest to pay a game that is so hard to play alone when even the basic client is not in your language.
When tou start playing the game is very different to be pointed to a tutorial on your language and a official spanish channel where you can ask silly questions and get recruited by a spanish speaking corp than making you bother to make the effort of doing it on choppy english somewhere else.
Imho removing the language channels was a big mistake. Im sure that player retention of spanish speaking who join a spanish speaking corp is much much higher. And corps used to recruit on the spanish channel.
CCP could ask the community for help on the translation. A volunteer could translate a men+¦ or a mission text with little effort, and all that would be left would be a review. Thats half work.
Misions could be translated to slang for pirate factions. Woulnt be glorious to have angel cartel speaking mexican slang, serpentis speaking porte+¦o and guristas speaking gitanillo style?. |
