Hey
The new Caracal design looks pretty awesome but I do have some minor problem with it. A problem that could be easily solved.
I wouldn-Št mind if you applied, at least some, Newton Physics to the ship models. Look at the new model and the Thrusters position in relation to the Ships Center of mass and apply some physics to it. This design would most certainly "pitch down" badly if the thruster was activated.
This design would feel more real if you placed some aux thrusters mid ship to compensate for this pitch down force -right?

Real-world physics don't apply to EVE. They invented a LOT of non-Newtonian physics for the sake of programming.

Reminder that all our ships are clear plastic balls with a fancy looking model cast into the center of them. |

PO is correct it looks not stabilized but hey OP listen don't forget ass soon as you put launchers on and load them with misdiles plus fitting plus extra misseles at cargohold then it's pretty well stabilized from the center of mass pov.
End of discussion here. |

Regardless of where the ship's center mass is supposed to me, it looks like it's in front of the engines at the start of the 'nose' and that makes the model seem unbalanced. It could do with either a little bit of tweaking (bringing the 'nose' up) or some smaller thrusters about half-way down the 'nose.'
I don't think anyone wants or expects EVE to be incredibly realistic, but I think having models that make at least a little sense isn't too much to ask for. |

Something something Warp Core causes Drag on Ship thats why they fly like submarines Something something
If you havn't noticed, EVE and Physics don't mix. Unless we are all wrong and it's perfectly natural to bounce off the sun

Hey all genius idea here with the new caracal, Picture this the next time you look at the concept pic: chop off JUST the elongated forward area and slap the bridge atop the vertical section, and we have a sinister looking, Merlin/hookbill's big brother. Just my 2c

Look, it's a submarine in space, your center of gravity can go **** itself. Also it's a game. But please do increase thrusters for the physics *** so his immersion won't be ruined (lol). |

If you're applying Newtonian physics to the ship models, you should have noticed a long time ago that there are restoring force vectors forcing them all into the same orientation in the absence of other forces, one assumes related to the nature of the superluminal warp they use to zip around star systems.
In the presence of such a restoring force, you can put the thrusters wherever you want so long as the torque doesn't exceed that of the oscillator bast an acceptable error bars and Newton says that not only will it work fine, but an offset is ADVANTAGEOUS to navigation, as it would allow you to tack.
There you go, Newtonian physics applied. |

It would be nice if a ship that I spend a fair amount of time in didn't look like it should be doing flips through space, but what slightly irritates me even more is the way the ships turn. I, personally after years of playing, hate the way the ships turn like ships at sea rather than like a ship in space. I know, Eve-space is full of Eve-fluids, but it's still a bit irritating. Now, with that being said, I realize that they more than likely won't do anything about it and that's fine, I'll just suppress the physics-rage like I have been and take it out on the days target instead. |
