So as we all know homeworld remastered is out on steam there are a **** tone of mods for it already and I bet a ton of us are already geeking out over the game.
My question is can anyone make a eveonline mod for homeworld? |

Pretty sure somebody made (Was making?) an Eve Mod for the original Homeworld 2. Given that, it wouldn't be too unlikely to see one eventually. |

EVE: RTS for Homeworld 2 on ModDB
Last update was from 2011 though, but the mod apparently recieved the permission to use assets for the usual non-profit purposes with the quarantee of the right credits for the art team of EVE.
The mod itself is insanely unstable, it runs smooth for the most part but highly prone to crashing and runtime errors, and is based on the older ship models circa 2009 or so.

Instability aside, it would still need to be reworked to run in Homeworld Remastered... not that there aren't plenty of tools available for that now.
You could still run it in the original Homeworld 2, but with the option to use MUCH more detailed textures (etc.) why would you want to.
Personally, I've always wondered why the first game to spin off of EVE wasn't a RTS similar to Homeworld... it would seem to be a natural extension of the game universe, the assets are mostly in place already, and it could possibly be integrated (at some level) with the main game.

In EVE it is like RTS with real people in a place of NPC units. Maybe on the planetary level it would have soem sense as something new. There was a table game in Ambulations demo that made use of hexes and units and it was ground based strategy game.

Because then you'd get just another Homeworld with more more indepth economy- and ship upgrades model. Where do you think where CCP originally grabbed the math based, high variable damage application system?
Because when you start digging around a bit, you can instantly tell the role division and game mechanics are almost directly based on the original ballistics system and ship pool of the original Homeworld. I can almost imagine the guys and gals at CCP were like "It would be great to be a pilot in a fleet like this, solets redo this game, but even more realtime and everyone gets personal upgrades. Also, make it so that everybody hates each other."

Anyway, I'd love to see an Eve Online Homeworld Remastered mod, would be good fun if unlike the old one, it was stable lol |

Someone could but it's an F-load of work.
- Get permission from CCP to use their IP
- Pull all needed assets from EvE using Triexporter - models, textures, turret hardpoints, engine effects, ect.
- Reassemble them using specialized tools for editing HW2 - which could involve editing for compatibility
- Full stats work up for each asset
- Custom mission/campaign planning and implementation
- Package it all as a mod
So lets say you want to keep with the ship classes in HW2: 3 types of frigates, 3 destroyers, 5 or 6 cruisers, a BC, a BS, a Carrier, and a Titan for the Mothership. You'd also have to bring in turret models, so 4 there (one of each size S, M, L, XL), and that's PER SIDE. Other stuff you might need is an assortment of drones, mining barges, orca/Rorq, maybe stations or POS's, asteroids.
It would be an interesting project but not one to be taken up unless you're committed to it. |

Also, make it so that everybody hates each other." Oh, I fully realize Homeworld exerted its influence on EVE design, but think of what CCP could do with that basic concept in an RTS now.
Or to take it a step further into the bizarre, have a simplified version of this concept actually take the form of a command and control center for fleet fights and system/constellation assaults.
The FC's (or their superiors) watching what unfolds in a Homeworld like display (and able to focus on any area where they have ships or probes), and issuing movement and attack orders in a similar fashion that appears in the HUDS and overviews of either the officers that are on site or for the rank and file troops if desired.
Of course, the only difference would be that while it's one thing to issue clear orders to your fleet in this fashion it would still be up to the individual pilots and their officers to act on those orders appropriately.
Ahh, but I digress....

Your word order on the topic is wrong. It is a homeworld Eve Online Mod you are looking for. that might make your searches easier. The way you wrote it, you are looking for a homeworld mod, for eve. |

Damn....I just looked and it seems that with the migration to Download on Demand, they changed their whole file structure. Meaning that they don't use .stuff files anymore. So, TriExporter is kaputski until it either gets updated or someone writes a new tool for extracting from the "SharedCache" folder structure. |
