Was out in a fleet the other day, and of course as is the norm, there were loads of lemmings, FC would call gate is red, and some one would still jump through. Naturally there would be a dozen others that would follow. Lemmings love that stuff!.
A suggestion that might be of interest to alot of eve players is the ability for the FC and fleet boss, to turn a specific gate to red. Hence giving the fleet a more visual approach to the fact that the gate they are sitting at is in fact not safe/or not time to jump through.
I am sure that most people would agree that comms can get a bit crazy especially with 200 people in fleet and when it isn't a important fleet, people tend to just burn to destinations linked into fleets. This idea would allow even the person with the least interest in listening to the some times screaming fc, the ability to know, "hey im not suppose to go in there yet" Also would allow for easier communication with members for corporations that are either deaf, or hearing impaired. |

Of all the non-issues ever talked about, this is the non-issuey-est lol.
If an FC doesn't want people jumping through a gate, he should tell them on comms and enforce discipline on his comms. Or warp is fleet to pings above the gate 1st and then and only then give the order to jump. CCP should NEVER do for players what players should do for themselves and can easily do with a little thinking.
If CCP wastes a single second of DEV time on this I'd buy extra accounts just to solo shoot some monuments with noob ships. That'll teach em...(...how to make more money off me...). |

Talk bout 'holding hands'.
To be honest I did end up on the wrong side of the gate once. Was fun, filled to the brim with reds.
Anyway, even if the gate is visually red you'll always have people who jump anyway and others thinking, "did I miss something? Better be safe and jump too". |

yeah the game doesn't need to be made easier for stupidity reasons, I run incursions from time to time and this happens a lot. On comms only people with a damn job should be talking unless someone else sees something the rest of the fleet didnt

That seems simpler, in the long run.

Just sayin' Mr Epeen well, i guess its still ok, since culturally we use the terms sheep and lemming almost interchangeably as synonyms for a guy that would jump off a bridge just because their buddy was at the bottom |

Hmmm:
Quote:Lemmings have become the subject of a widely popular misconception that they commit mass suicide when they migrate, by jumping off cliffs. It is in fact not a mass suicide but the result of their migratory behavior. Driven by strong biological urges, some species of lemmings may migrate in large groups when population density becomes too great. Lemmings can swim and may choose to cross a body of water in search of a new habitat. In such cases, many may drown if the body of water is so wide as to stretch their physical capability to the limit. This fact, combined with the unexplained fluctuations in the population of Norwegian lemmings, gave rise to the misconception

Yeah, but Norwegian lemmings have a higher rate of alcoholism; migrating under the influence.

I feel you pain. Lemmings giving away your intentions when trying to "sneak up" on people is.... disappointing.
If certain FC's suffer more from this than others with the same fleetmembers involved, ask them to speak a little slower and more articulated. If the FC isnt a native English speaker something simple like that can do wonders.
In big fight situations: Let them die. If I lemming a gate for example, I'll run into 400 of your friends. Problem/Yarda solved in seconds :)
People who make mistakes like that generally don't pull their weight once the real stuff starts. I mean they can't pay proper attention when there's no stress involved at all. Guess what happens when orders start coming in rapidly, sometimes contradicting etc. Them being there isn't a problem ofc, but if you still count on them doing their thing its gonna get bloody.

Doesn't CCP wanna get rid of fleet warps? I doubt they'll make anything that makes moving a fleet around easier at this point. |

A good FC would build discipline within his fleet, and coincidentally provide content to the non-lemmings, by making examples of the early-jumpers and call them primary.
I find that without a good mob to provide one for them, most people would have no mentality at all.

Completely removes the player error factor from an engagement, which IMO is a pretty important part of the equation. Being able to capitalize on your opponents mistakes and lack of discipline is just as important as being skilled and disciplined.

hard to hear that coming from SMA. but it was an idea to help make the game more noob friendly. i personally am not a lemming thus it doesn't effect me other then losing the surprise element in combat. |

It's been suggested in the Features and Ideas Discussion forum, which is, you know, the place for suggesting things to the devs. They even watch that forum, and not this one, for suggestions.
This forum is mostly for trolls to tell you that your idea sucks. All ideas suck, here, according to them. |

This is exactly what we used to do in fleets I used to run. Solved the problem. Entirely. Stupidity and inability to follow orders without a decent enough reason would risk getting the fleet killed, due to the numbers we would engage. |

PRO TIP for your FC.
Stop using the word 'GATE' or 'JUMP' as people with itchy trigger fingers will only pick up on those two words, ignoring all other instructions.
