Is a Covetor fitted for maximum yield faster than a Skiff at ice mining? Running in a fleet with max Rorqual boosts, the difference should be most noticeable there and I'm currently undecided between buying 2 Covetors for my 2 miners or training them both for a Skiff. This is nullsec too, so I guess I wouldn't be able to last long when the BS rats come up. I'mc urrently getting around 27s per cycle time on a Procurer with 2 T2 MLU's, one T2 harvester and the ice mining rig including a 1-2s difference with the 3% Yeti implant. How much better will the yield be with a Skiff versus a Covetor? |

Skiff means you can brush off the rats when they spawn. |

I know, the Covetors just can't stand int he belt for too long if rats do appear and that['s wasted time. Can anyone help me with EFT? I can't assign a booster to a character to see the difference and the yield is calculated per minute. Can't I see the yield as it is in-game with boosts? I wanna know how long it takes one cycle to complete with boosts bewteen the two. |

Open your Skiff fitting, open your Covetor fitting and compare side by side, yield listed is cubic meters per minute.
Now open your Rorqual fitting, assign a character with appropriate skills and implants (Mining Foreman mindlink for example) - return to your Skiff and Covetor fits and right click at the Squad Commander entry in the bottom right and choose the Rorqual for both. This will set the Rorq and its selected pilot as booster for the ships and reflect the gains that will result in.
I've never checked a Rorq but I guess that you will need an active (ticked) Industrial Core to get full boosts. |

max yield is bad in this day and age, it ensures you can die by 1 catalyst anymore.

max yield is for out here in null. If gankers aren't a problem, and rats are taken care of, I think it was in the 20% range? |

I've just tried the Hulk against the Skiff and to be honest, the difference is extremely small with ice mining. I can last in belt much more than I would with a Covetor though...just don't know if it's worth taking the risk. Hulks aren't exactly the most expendable ships but since I am only interested in max yield...the difference will probably be a lot higher when I get all my toons to exhumers 5.
I don't have to worry about gankers, intel is active and working. The BS rats are a pain in the butt though, I might just do it the old school way with a 4th ratting and combat alt.
I just wanna be sure I'm getting the maximum possible output from that Rorqual boost. |

A hulk is significantly faster than a skiff at Exhumer 4 for ice mining. I've never run a Covetor. I used to use an Orca to swap between a Skiff and Hulk based on circumstances. Keep in mind that the cycle time of the Hulk will require a lot more attention.

I'm ok with the 15k hold. It's got the better shield and faster alignment and it mines pretty much the same without sacrficing yield for tank. I'll just stick with the Skiff until I get the combat alt up. |

in high sec use a skiff its not worth losing a ship to some little kiddies who like to shoot undefended miners |
