if those stats are correct the difference between heavy missiles and assault missiles will be minimal...

euhm... only in paper.
the heavy assault launcher has higher RoF, and the heavy assault missile has less damage on his own, like rockets do.
this means they will do lotsa damage.
however there are 2 problems:
first is the fact that with skills, you are looking at 13 to 15km range MAX, using T1 missiles.
second is, heavy assault launchers are basically "1 big burst" wonders since their amazing firepower has the drawback of having a REALLY bad sustainability (heavy assault launchers have really small clip).
however I do like them in that way, since it doesn't make them that overpowered.
hi-damage while unable to sustain that grade of damage for long. -------

t1 heavy ass + best named launcher: 100/6.4 -> 15.625 t1 heavy + best named launcher: 150/12 -> 12.5
25% more dps.
I wouldn't exactly call that no difference.
To compare, heavy pulse has only 14% more dps than heavy beam.

....you will also empty the heavy assault tubes faster than you could say "OMFGTUXNERF!"

Ermm..With the t2 launcher and *max* skills thats 82 seconds of fire with t1 missles and 165 seconds of fire with t2 missles till you have to reload.
t2 takes twice as long to launch...?

Edited by: DaemonBarber on 26/10/2006 20:29:12 Some numbers for thought, using EVE-O Item database w/o taking any skills or bonuses into account:
Rockets:
0.4 Clip / .01 per Missile * 3.2 RoF = 128 Sec of Firing
Standards
2.4 Clip / .06 per Missile * 12 RoF = 480 Sec of Firing
Heavy Assault
1.5 Clip / .06 per Missile * 6.4 RoF = 160 Sec of Firing
Heavies
1.5 Clip / .03 per Missile * 12 RoF = 600 Sec of Firing.
To recap:
Rockets: 128 Standards: 480 Heavy Assault: 160 Heavies: 600
Ratio Between Standard and Heavy (600 / 480 ) = 1.25 Ratio Between Rockets and Heavy Assault (160 / 128) = 1.25
Ratio Between Rockets and Standards: 3.75x Ratio Between Heavy Assaults and Heavies: 3.75x
Make sense?

That was kinda the point ... the question remains whether or not they should have. I guess it's as good a place as any to start balancing.

well, with good skills, one could empty a rocket launcher clip fairly quickly.
now add the skills that affect rate of fire and see how long it will take. -------

Hmm, I've noticed that you can fit more t2 rage than t1 variant (Though i could not test it first hand..obviously, I don't have the skill). Was this intentional, or was this a bug?

The skills will apply equally across all of them, so that's not really needed.
I did not however get my number right on the first try (I had standards at .06 and heavies at .03 - oddly enough that made everything line up perfectly so I didn't check it as closely as I should have).
The new numbers show that they do not line up the same, in fact the gap between Heavies and Heavy Assaults is narrower, so technically HA's are better then I would have expected.

Vs normal heavies the do not last that much, of cource, but 80 seconds without reloading is still pretty long. Other shortrange weapons (exept lasers for obvious reasons) run out of ammo far quicker.
80 seconds can be an issue in 1v1, but for small gang it shouldn't. And if the t2 heavy ass are indeed only 0.03m¦ reloading should be no issue in 1v1 either with t2 ammo.

edited my post regarding that then.
well, I think it would be better to decrease clip size of it then. -------
