Ok. I fly a Maller Class Cruiser, pretty well loaded with medium turrets, cap rechargers, weapon upgrades, an armor repaier, and whatnot. However because of some odd reason, im unable to get level 2 missions. So does anyone know of a low-sec area where I could go solo ratting to get bounty money? Preferably close to Jita.

hmm, I could answer your question but I'm not sure if that's actually what you really want. If you can't do lvl 2's in a Maller there's something wrong, trying to evade the problem isn't going to work and it will haunt you throughout the whole game if you don't work on it.
So I suggest you tell us what setup you're using, what your tactics are and how things go wrong for you. It'll be way more useful imo.

I think it might be my social skills, im working on social level 3 to get connections up to level 3 so I might be able to fix it that way, but while thats working...yeah.
Right. Maller class cruiser. 3 Heavy Pulse Lasers (medium) and 2 Focused Afocal Pulse Masers(Also Mediums) All equipped with Multifrequency M crystals.
Medium Cap Rechargers - 17.25% + 16.5%
Basic Tracking Enhancer Skadi Coolant System
Capacitor Power Relay 1 Local Power Plant Manager: Diagnostic System 1 Powerplant Manager 1
Medium Armor Regenerator
10Mn afterburner
My main probolem with level1 missions is that I am unable to hit drones alltogether, have a hard time hitting the interceptors. I need something more profitable.

correct, except for
Medium Armor Repairer = Medium I-A Armor Regenerator (my fauly)
and the second Diagnostic System is actually a Reactor Control Unit

Edited by: Karn Defil on 26/10/2006 17:09:36 I'm fairly new as well. Been playing for 3 weeks or so and am using a Maller atm to do level 2 missions. You need to get yourself a webber for the drones. I found switching to a longer range approach for the missions helped alot also (range on my turrets is 32km atm). I do bring multi's with me though just in case.

Edited by: Caleb Paine on 26/10/2006 17:12:33 Ok, with the skills you have I made you a setup. granted, there will be tons of people saying they have a much better one but I'm not entirely sure people who come up with setups actually TRIED them, or take into account that you (and other people that ask) have noobie skills. It's the same people who say you can easily do lvl 2 missions in a frigate...
4 x focused medium pulse lasers 2 x medium nosferatu
10MN afterburner stasis webifier cap recharger
Medium armor repairer damage control 2 energized membranes for the damage done to you in that mission co-processor power diagnostic system
This setup should work quite well for you, you have smaller guns with a bit less range, but better tracking and cap use. The 2 NOS help you keeping your cap up so you can survive longer. The AB is standard ofcourse, the webifier slows your targets down so you can actually hit them, together with the better tracking weapons you should be fine. The cap recharger is just because I couldn't fit a 2nd webber with your skills.
The lows are standard apart from the co-pro and the PDU which I had to put in to make it work with your skills. The 2 energised resists depend on the mission you're doing, you can get that info here. It shows you what damage will be done to you in that mission, fit the appropriate resists.
A maller is about tanking, about outlasting your enemies. It's no use trying to make it into a damage dealing monster. Which is great because doing missions IS about tanking and resists. Oh and don't forget to activate the Damage control, you'd be surprised how many people (even older ones) don't know you have to :)

Sandeep, did you use a website to generate those stats? If so, can you post the url?
Thanks.

Get different kinds, fit for what's needed at that moment. No use fitting long range ones, then start shooting and then switch while he's coming towards you but you should always carry short range, medium and long range crystals. They don't use a lot of cargospace nor are they expensive so there's no excuse not to have them :)
But for the shortrange small crap you'll be facing mostly the multifreq. If you see a gunnerypoint that would shred you if you came too close switch to longrange.

I can't use the nosferatu's, need level 3 engineering and level 2 energy emissions.

Then stop what are training atm and get those skills. You NEED to be able to use Nos, without it ships don't work too well so you can't do missions. After that I suggest you go work on your tankingskills (mechanic), gunnery skills (mainly Motion prediction and Controlled bursts) and the cap skills (energy management and Energy systems operation). When you have those up somewhat then go train for a T2 armor rep, when done go work on T2 lasers.
When you are able to use those your skills will start to work in your favor, let alone if you would actually FIT those modules. Understand that the support skills which aren't a requirement for a certain module are as important as the ones that are mentioned. They make all the difference.

Edited by: Tunajuice on 27/10/2006 00:02:56 I would heavily suggest 5 guns 1 nos, over 4 guns 2 nos.
Nos is nice, but you aren't tanking anything that hardcore in L2s you would want to give up 20% of your dps.

Making isk via missions: Caracal or Vexor/Arbitrator - dont bother with any other ships for level 2s.
I prefer Caracal cause you are close to skills for a Raven. But Vexor might be better if your cheap and dont buy ammo
Dont bother with Thorax (blasters suck in missions), Stabber (great PVP ship but crap missions), Rupture (PVP), Maller (Pure CRAP), and rest i cant think of tooo tired lol
Myself, I dont run missions much but I have been on level 3s and level 4s with many mates and they are soooo easy with Missiles. Drones have agro bug and CTD is the sucky. |

Convo me in game and I can show you some low sec areas. Stop worrying about skills and start making friends. Solo you will die. But with gang, you will collect T2 loot. |

Any combat-oriented Cruiser (not scythe/osprey) fitted well can do L2's. Admittedly some are better than others. Telling a Minnie that none of his racial cruisers are worth a damn against L2's doesn't make for good advice.
There are any number of ways to play this game. It's not just about missiles and drones, ya know...
Rupture is fine for L2's.

Sounds like you ment the L2 agents won't accept you, your standings are too low is all.
Train Social and Connections to 3 you'll have a bunch of L2 agents available.
