Seems this is a recent game footage video, and really shows a pretty impressive amount of detail and damage modeling from weapons fire...

It's also going to be released november 21st,but has some serious system requirements to play with it at it's best...But also check out the Art section for the PC version,as the gameplay pictures look awsome....

Hmmm looks like a remake of the Starfleet Command series to be honest and they have a lesser system requirement.
With mods all races are available, Borg, Cardassian, Tholian etc.
I really don't see anything new here aside from a bank balance.
Scout around Dynaverse if you want some great and incidentally budget Star Trek action. They primarily use Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates as a base and you need updates from that site and downloads per server to take part. However you get just what you see in that video plus more.
The added advantage is that you get it cheap and there is a lively community 5 years after the game ended. No small thanks to Taldren, the creators, releasing the server code.

Looks good, but I'm really disappointed that the Jem'Hadar (sp) are not a playable race. ----- Lighten up a little bit. It's only the end of the world. |

Seems nice idea overall, and the graphics shown look awsome, but seeing that shockwave demo at the bottom of the page kinda scared me a bit to be honest.....A tad too much micromanagement perhaps?.

Considering that micro-management is all the player will do in engineering (for example), I think you should consider it as the gameplay. Luckyly, you seem to be able to do 2 professions.
If you try to draw parallels between EVE and that game, it would be like having one person to take the decisions, one person to fly the ship around, one person to engage the shield booster/armor repairer, one to keep an eye on the cap, one to maneuver the weapons, etc. Now, if you were the shield booster/armor repairer guy... how fun would it be to push 1 button and go to sleep? "Enable! *Yawn* I'm done here"
I don't know how this game would be any different than a la Everquest games. But here, being enclosed in the engine room and not seeing ANYTHING from the battle (I'm only interested in the space battles part) other than some gauges... sounds a bit daft to me. Imagine playing EVE with a black screen and only the overview and HUD display. Stories. |
