N00b here; less than a month of total play time.
Let's say that I accept a mission from the Agent where I begin The Blood-Stained Stars. Then, my buddy comes along and he also accepts the same mission from the same Agent. What happens if we then create a Fleet together? Can we accomplish the objectives for that same mission together at the same time while in a Fleet together? Then afterwards, each turn in our completed mission separately?
Apologies if this has already been asked, but I wasn't able to find an answer to this exact question with my searches. |

Each mission creates an individual deadspace pocket in space. Essentially, yes, you can complete it together but you have to do it twice. First you warp to your mission and he warps to you and you complete your mission. Then he warps to his mission and you warp to him and you complete his mission. |

Okay, thank you very much for clearing that up. There's so much to learn in this game and finding answers to some of these questions is very helpful. |

also note:
if your buddy helps you he gets 1/2 of your bounties.
I forget if he gets 1/2 the mission reward too, its been a few years since i ran missions with a fleet

Yeah EVE never had any real linear progression until epic arcs were added so the fleet system doesn't have anything built into it for having double completion happen since the entire mission system is built such that only a single player at any one time "owns" the mission. Every mission has a separate spawned instance area they have to warp to specifically for their mission to work.
Also like to note that even though I used the word instance that does not mean that you are separate from the rest of players. No matter where you are, if you are undocked at all another player has the capacity get to you. If you're cloaked it's VERY unlikely that they will since they can't scan you. But in any mission or otherwise deadspace pocket can be breached by another player at any time, friendly or not.

You can pick to share the mission rewards. If you do the LP and standing gains are split too (NOT FACTION, FACTION STANDING NEVER SHARES).
The dialog box for this has a "never ask again" check box that you can reset using the ESC menu and the Reset tab. There's a column for resetting tutorials and specific dialog boxes such as these.

What is even more helpful is having friends that you can ask questions and get answers from in real time. As in an in game chat channel like corp chat or one of the new player friendly channels that a lot of the regular posters in the NCQ&A section have in their signatures.

It's worth noting that having two people and doing each mission twice is probably still faster than doing it with one person, at least with actual newer characters.
A single player with low skill-point levels is going to be below the line where things can be accomplished easily in some of the missions, and will likely have to keep track of both a destroyer and a frigate while flying around the crazy 25-jump routes between the mission clusters to reliably finish things in reasonable time.
With two people you're comfortably over the standard DPS, speed, and defense without ever getting out of the one frigate you started in, enemy damage is randomly split between you, and you have another pair of eyes and another brain to work out the places where the mechanics are poorly explained. My money would be on just doing each mission twice quite literally taking less time than solo for most people's playstyle.
(This is actually a fairly common optimization issue for PVE, often having a second player in a smaller ship in, say, Level 4 missions allows you to complete them more than twice as fast, representing a net gain even splitting the loot 2 ways, and even a third player can further increase things depending on what you're all driving before the division of the loot balances out the faster bounties. Of course, there's also the "if I had to do hours of PvE by myself I'd throw my computer through a window and join a monastery to avoid the internet" factor, but that's harder to quantify in isk/hour terms.) |

Thanks again for all the feedback. I'm going to try running it with him side-by-side. Even if we have to turn in every mission twice it should still end up being a time savings given the extra man power we'll have in combat. |
