This is starting to get rediculous, to be honest.
I've seen no less than 15 people come into our public channel in the last two days, as well as several members of our corp who've lost either ships, or ships and pods because they warp to a camped gate only to find they get to it alive and are dropped into a Jump Queue.
Luckily I've not been a victim of this personally and I'm not one to complain, I'm looking forward to Kali 1, the new ships, new booster and new PvP opportunities, but this is seriously cramping and destroying gameplay, and the expansion will never be able to be enjoyed fully with this in place.
It needs to be addressed, as it's adding unnecessary petitions to an already over-strained customer support department and destroying the fun in game for a hell of a lot of people.
For the love of god take some of the pressure off the petition system and remove the Jump-In Queues, it's causing pointless losses and countless reimbursement petitions are being filed for no real reason.

Edited by: Irashi on 29/10/2006 01:23:02 It is pretty ridiculous, I'm sat here looking at the logon screen displaying "LS-V29 Trafic control: You are #1 in queue to jump in"
It's 0.0 for fracks sake. Fine if it's Jita or Rens, I couldn't give a stuff about trafic control around jita because I'm not living there, but for a backwater 0.0 system that even during a mining session won't have anymore than 10 people in there at once...
Ah, I just managed to get in as I was typing my whine, and lo and behold 1 in local, and that's me...
Seriously...

What can I say? CCP loves stealth nerfs and stealth additions, they know if they would have told us about this in advance, we'd have created so much rabble they wouldn't be able to get it in. Screw the queues, both login and jump - its detracting from good gameplay.

But don't you think jump queues are FUN? I sure think they're FUN!
I had so much FUN earlier today trying to jump into RMOC for a fleet battle before getting stuck in a FUN jump queue and then getting a FUN-filled crash to desktop, immediately being greeted by the FUN log-in screen telling me I'm #7 in the FUN jump queue to log in and then receiving another FUN crash to desktop. By the time I actually logged back in and made it through the FUN jump queue, the battle was already over.
So much FUN! Jump queues truly are the worst thing ever put into this game are FUN!

Happens to me every time I try to jump into an empty system in 0.0. I think all systems that were not entered since server start up or for extended amount of time are "disabled" until there is an attempt to jump in. There is no actual waiting involved though; just takes two clicks on the jump button to go through.

I just signed that petition. Thanks for setting it up.
For me it gets ridiculous: I live in low sec, with a pirate corp in next system. I earn my living with traveling a lot in low sec. But when even an Inty or Blockade runner gets into the "jump" queue, I lose my prime advantage: speed and manuverability. I am just a sitting duck then.
Funny episode yesterday: system tells me I am no. 1 in queue. I click "jump" repeatingly. For about 2 minutes. Nothing happens, I am still no. 1. I fly away, dock at a station in the system and do some business. Undock again, then the system displays me a counter: "You may jump in 3:12 minutes to XY". (thats right after I fly like 30 AU away, docked and undocked again).
I arrive at the gate with 2:30min in the waiting line, click jump about a dozen times from different angles.... and voila: I jump (with 2:12 left before i would be allowed to jump)
Is there ANY logic in the system ? I think not.

They should at least make you invulnerable or "jump-in" cloaked once you've entered the queue.
Frankly I was under the assumption that was already the case. (I haven't entered a queue yet with hostiles around me.)

Aye this system hasn't been implemented properly. I can understand the need in heavily populated systems like Jita but in .0 it's a joke. I've been stuck in a few queues but not had any hostile trouble so far. If they need to work on the code to get it working as it should then please CCP do that on the server thats designed for testing.
One thing that does seem to help is spamming the jump button.

there i was in a 0.2 sec system sitting at a gate in a faction fitted ishtar waiting to jump. i am -6.0 so no sentries are going to help me if i get attacked there were 22 hostile people to me in local and i was number 1 in queue to jump. I sat at that gate for 17mins before i was able to jump i jumped next door and i was the only person in local.
I dont mind waiting at a gate in a queue if i cant be shot at but 17 mins just orbiting the gate with everyone in eve able to shoot me is not what i call fair game

Beyond ridiculous for me just now. I sat ten minutes waiting to jump into Shaggoth then when I gave up and tried to jump into Pimsu I couldn't because I was in the queue to Shaggoth. I've logged because I'd rather spend my afternoon enjoying the sunshine.

Doesn't just happen on gates.
We moved a 40+ strong capital fleet on Friday, got jump queues on every Cyno even when jumping from an empty sytem into an empty system (empty except for the one cyno character that is).
The system is utterly retarded and definitely ranks in the top ten most ridiculous things CCP have implemented over the years.
It has to go.

The thing I really find rediculous about these queues is that you're stopped from jumping in even if the next system is *empty*. Why the hell is there a need for a jump queue to jump into en empty system in 0.0? Yes, jump queues may well be needed for crowded systems in high sec but certainly not empty systems in 0.0. -----------

Edited by: Nymos on 29/10/2006 14:54:57 wasn't that introduced as a "feature"? a feature as in "load balancing"? it's not only jump queues, there is still sick module lag, disconnects, node crashes, you name it... and with kali around the corner with new "optimizations" like dragon be prepared for more of this :(

that's because several systems are on the same node and once the node is about to melt (high cpu usage) it starts to introduce jump queues.

That's exactly what *should* happen in the short term, too bad it doesn't actually work that way. I favor removing the jump queues completely and having CCP focus on fixing the reason queues were stealth implemented: buggy code that eats all of a node's resources.
Kali won't be so shiny if in addition to new ships, and other "content" we still are stuck with unnecessary nerfs, and node problems that use gate queues as a workaround.

They mightbecrap, but they are needed crap. The server right now is just not stable enough, and without these things nodes would crash about 50 times a day. I'd rather have a que then an offline node.

i prefer an offline node because at least that doesn't kill you and half your fleet. a node crash affects hostiles in the same way. getting a "disconnect", while it horribly sucks, doesn't hit me as hard as half the fleet unable to jump while the other half is waiting to uncloak and pray that the rest can make it in. or in a solo scenario: sit ducks and be bbq'd and even have to say "gf" afterwards because you're a gentleman and it's not a hostile's fault anyway that ccp doesn't feed the hamsters.

I prefer not having my system crash 50 times because your fleet decided to fight in my system . I get what you mean tho, being stuck and unable to use the gate on a gate camped system sucks. But you can always avoid those systems, they have 'trafic advisory' stuck next to them.

If jump queues are important for the game's stability then so be it.
But if you reach a gate and click to jump you should dissappear, even if the queue will jump you on the next system in 5 minutes. Easy fix no?
