Edited by: Don Caldari on 29/10/2006 19:38:50 as those of us that rat alot, or do alot of missions know figuring out what loot to recycle, and what to sell on the market is a royal pain in the A## view market info check recycle value etc with 400+ stacks to check that takes ALOT of time time that could be used to do more missions it used to be probably one of the things i hated most about doing missions and i only did it when i really needed cash but then i got a good idea im sure some of the older players have been doing this for years but i have never heard or read about it so im gonna share it here, in the hope that some of the never players wont have to go through that hell more than once
what i did was i had a container named Recycling and normally i would once in a while recycle everything in that container but then i started thinking what if i left one of each item in the container? so the next time i had a good sized batch to recycle i did just that
and then after each mission i dump everything in the recycle container and hit STACK and voila most of the items i brought back from the mission would stack with what was already in there then i would take whatever didnt stack and do the same in my sell, ammo and my keep container and after that i would check whatever was left and place in one of the containers mentioned above
now at first it was a bit anoying having to check items everytime i came back from a mission but after a while i had so many stacks already in my containers that out of 100 stacks from a big mission(like gurista x 4) i only have 5-10 stacks left and chances are that those are pretty decent items actually now i gladly check the few items leftover because i get a really warm fuzzy feeling everytime i can add another item to my recycle bin
anyway i thought i would share this as i would definatly have considered this one of the best tips to get before starting a missionrunning career
if this turns out to save u alot of time feel free to send me a few isk as a thx(just kidding)
or if u have an even better idea please share it
PS i know my punctuation is lacking to say the least
edit: it is actually so fast and easy to recycle now that when i have been doing a few missions with my friends i take a few minutes when we are done and recycle our loot(that would literally have taken hours before)

simple, i use 3 station containers, 1 is named loot, 1 is loot that will refine, 1 container are minerals.
i rat in 0.0 (Blood raiders), and i normally loot all that is in cargos, and when i warp to pos i only check for named items and put them in different tab that is used for recycling.
simple as that

what do u mean by named items?
if u mean faction items then alot of the better T1 gear(like arbalest launchers)really shouldnt be recycled
if u mean anything that isnt the most basic T1 then alot of the crappier named stuff(like alot of armor hardeners/plates)really ought to be recycled
with my system i will eventually have 1 of each item that ought to be cycled im my bin and after i get that i wont have to check anything anymore

That is a very good idea, and I will certainly try it out. Now the actual checking of items need only be done once, which will certainly save significant amounts of time.

That's actually a pretty good idea, and as a veteran l4 mission runner, I'm embarrased I didn't even think of such a timesaver before... good going, mate!
About the only slow part of the process, if I understand it correctly, is keeping the 1 of everything in the containers, meaning after you stack all you have to pull 1 out of each stack.

Edited by: Don Caldari on 30/10/2006 04:13:43 yeah that is the only slow thing about it u have to split the stacks when u want to recycle so that u keep one item in the container with alot to recycle it takes me 10-15 mins compared to the 10-15 hours it used to take me:)
edit:once my economy is a bit more stable(ie when my CNR is officer fitted LOL) ill save one of each of the items i know needs to be sold on the market in another container and then there should be almost nothing left to check right now my economy really cant bear keeping multimillion isk items sitting in a can for to long

Edited by: Taipan Gedscho on 30/10/2006 15:49:52 i posted this long time ago in the "features and idea" forums, but it didnt get much recognition.
and i took it even one step further. please do me a favour, and read it, and if you like it, drop me a line.

hey hey
Method 1 : Anything under 100k gets crushed Method 2 : Named items ('malkulth' etc) kept' Crush everything else Method 3 : Everything into the hanger, Stack it. every now and then Sort by number and every stack over 5 is trimmed back and the rest goes into the crusher (basicly keep 5 of everything)
Will certainly try stacking into cans for regular loot crushing. + i recently maxed out my stack limit :) so cans cound like a good pln.

Hrm... I figured people mostly did this already, why else would there be so many containers on the market?
Anyhow... I think most people recycle away more money than they realize. 95% of named items (as in not generic T1 stuff) recycle for about 1/10th of T1 items yet they sell for more on the market in about 50% of the cases. So if you sell them instead of recycle them you'll make far more money.
I used to spend a fair bit of time doing this and I'd make 10's of millions ever few weeks when I'd divide up my recycling/sell items. Now I havn't recycled anything in 6 months... I have prob 200-400+ million worth of crap to recycle/sell but I just don't feel like doing it... back when I needed the money though I would have made far less if I didn't use containers to store stuff and then recycle/sell my products every 2-3 weeks.

Have you ever put 73 sell orders up at once? Sorry dude but you just cant sell most of crap that is named. Or atleast not within a timeframe that you need your sell order options again. Sell stuff that you know that is worth stuff. Malkuth standard launcher will sell, malkuth cruise launcher will not. Name afterburners and microwarpdrives might sell but take time, named cap neutralizers will not sell. Its fairly stupid to place all named stuff on the market. .
