Fellow pod pilots,
Approximately 24 hours ago, Peregrin Avionics was attacked by an insider individual named "Shanzar", a trusted corporation member.
Estimated losses are at 5-10 million ISK's worth of working capital and corporation assets. This is indeed a very small amount of money, but it was taken in the form of equipment and goods that were being used to help the corporation grow.
Thankfully, we have now fully recuperated our losses. A few hours ago, it was reported to us by CONCORD that corporation member "Shanzar" had been terminated in an accident involving clone transfer. It is a great pity that we were not the ones to commit this act.
The Corporation has taken measures to stop this from happening again. Next time this does successfully occur however, Corporation battleships will be scrambled immedietely to destroy the culprit, that I can promise.
Now, the reason I am informing you all of this is because I believe that this a scheme by someone greater. A scheme that intends to infiltrate new corporations and steal their assets. I believe that this person intends to do this on an industrial scale, with other "puppet" pod pilots.
I am therefore warning everyone who wishes to or has already set up a new corporation to be extra vigilant when dealing with your own employees, as one of them may just be a puppet designed to steal and deliver the stolen profit to someone else.
In light of the lack of proffesionalism shown by corporation member "Shanzar", I would advise that this should not be a hard task. Our investigation has revealed one other suspicious figureso far: "Miss Kodama", though this may be circumstantial.
For more information regarding the events of this, please contact our CEO, MaverickG, or come to our public channel, "Peregrin Public".
Thankyou for your time, Tyr Vaantau, Operations Manager of Peregrin Avionics.
and:
MaverickG, CEO of Peregrin Avionics.

Interesting.
The Veto Family recognises the need for a corporation to grow and develop.
We have contributed 25,000,000.00 ISK to your corporate wallet, double that taken, to ensure no setback is caused by such a traitorous fool.
Thank you for the information regarding the moral integrity of the culprit, hopefully Corporations reading this will take heed of the warning.

Don't lie to the man, Pepperami. You're a PvP'er. Who honestly expects you to have isk?
I have a question though. Did the OP say that they got the stuff back and had recieved a notice about the thief's demise? If that's so, I'm thinking this was more of a "parental lesson" than an actual thief attempt.
If you hit the biomass recycler and are in a corp, that corp takes possession of all of your assets. Surely the thief had to know this....

We only regained the assets by either re-manufacturing them or re-purchasing them.
When Corporation member Shanzar was terminated, the only assets that we took control of were a single shuttle and one Impairor class frigate. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y206/0loweo/EVEbannerx.gif Signature filesize exceeds max limit of 24000 bytes. Mail us if you have questions -Eldo |

My corp, Wolfenrecon, had a theft as well on 10/29/06. Swatter (a long time trusted member) stole 750m from our corp wallet along with a Tempest and a Typhoon bpo. We knew he had 2 alts (1 of which we knew the name of, 1 of which we did not). The alt we were aware of was terminated 10/30/06 as well. I do not know for certain if the alt we were unaware of was "Shanzar", but the timing of the thefts and terminations of the alts are extremely similar.
The character Swatter is still in game and I would hope that all CEO's would use extreme caution if he tries to contact you or join your corp.
Again, I do not know if these incidents are indeed related but they appear to be very similar in style and timing. All I can say for sure is that all CEO's need to take precautions and limit corp wallets and all valuable assets to themselves only (as we have now done) to avoid such unfortunate incidents from occurring again.

So this genius spent months infiltrating your corp in order to make off with 10 mill?
There may be a criminal behind it but the title of "Mastermind" remains firmly out of their reach.

Yes. Corporation Member "Shanzar" was not the most expert of theives. This is the main reason that I thought it would be part of something larger, as opposed to a one off robbery. Robbing 1 corporation of 10 mill is pointless, but robbing 10 corporations of 10 mill gets you much further.
He didn't spend months infiltrating us either, we are a new corporation. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y206/0loweo/EVEbannerx.gif Signature filesize exceeds max limit of 24000 bytes. Mail us if you have questions -Eldo |

I would suggest filing a petition. While corp theft is legal in the game, creating and deleting alts to escape the consequences of your actions is, in some cases, considered an exploit. CCP *might* take action...

well since i recently became a director of my corp ive been thinking about how to reduce this kind of problem, i guess its to do with the age of the character as a year old player or older will over 12m sp is worth quite a bit and is unlikly to be recycled.
So it would make sence to only allow access to people with long service 6 months or more and old ish characters which have clearly been used in the main. Ie the characters on alot and does alot suggesting its the persons main character and proberbly his pride and joy in eve.
I understand that in a new corp it might be hard, but it best to have people u know outside of game in ur corp or friends u have known in eve for a long time to have such access.
any other safty tips people can think of?

At DARK we use an alt corp for all isk over a certain limit in the corp wallet. Also all bpos are locked down in our hq, so can be accessed by all industry folk but not removed.
We also use have a security officer role. All member hangers are checked regularly for evidence of loot hogging or excesive carebearism.
Visible discipline is the key to strong member loyalty. Nothing like watching someone get scalped to think better of doing it yourself.
you get me :)

Edited by: Flinx Evenstar on 31/12/2006 02:42:29 Well corp thievery is of course despicable, but it pales in signifigance to corp infiltration. The thief usually acts too early out of greed and only steals a few hundred mil.
Here are 2 stories with morals
One member in our corp used an alt to relieve us from a few hundred mil of mods in corp hanger.
The alt was hunted and podded several times ( I have the corpses )
..but then in an unrelated matter, his main lost a ship and expensive cargo. Our members compensated for the loss from their own wallets.
The main was touched by the action and overcome by guilt. Enough to confess.
As a democratic corp we voted on the outcome...I voted "kick the Mofo", but there are more forgiving ppl in the corp and I respect their decision. The above culprit is now a very good member. He had the balls to confess, and proves himself everyday.
The second story is about a member, who thought it was clever to try and make a deal with a war target. They said they would rob our office in the system we were using as a staging post and transfer the loot to the enemy. The enemy were a known pirate corp...
Much respect to the pirate corp...they contacted us about the traitor ...it seems they hated corp thieves as much as we do. He is now dealt with
Its a crazy world...but in my corp we will always give a second chance to genuine honesty. I will not say what we did, or have planned for the second case

Here's a small tip, there was a thread here a few weeks ago about a Corp that seemingly got robbed, and the OP and/or the CEO looked at first glance to be suspect. however it turned out that you can give some seemingly minor roles (cant remember exactly what they were, something silly like the ability to use labs or something) which unknowingly to most gives access to the Corp wallet. Now these guys had, like most i assume, not given out their corp shares, so some slimeball got into the corp, got these seemingly minor roles, took all the corp shares, held a vote to make him CEO, no one could oppose it, and no one even knew the vote was happening as he got the vote email being the share holder. He got the Corp, kicked everyone else out and had all their assets to, give those shares out people, and CEO's keep the majority back. Hats off to CCP mind, they've really made a game that fosters trust and teamwork over making it easy for up and coming sociopaths to steal their way through the game, and it's so nice to see they have such a grasp of the punishment side of reality and aren't just blinded by Jonny Depps eyepatch to the crime side of reality........... oh wait
