I'm flying a Rifter currently while training my learning skills. When those are complete, I'm going to start training my cruiser skills. What is the best all out pvp Minmatar cruiser? Is there one? What skills do I train first for pvping? Should I take these up to lvl 4 for now then 5 later or something else?

Stabber is also pretty awsome. It's like an interceptor on *****. :P
For NPCing, rupture is better. For pvp, sometimes the stabber is better.

I played UO/GL, stole the guys name, figured it's better than stealing a name out of an Anne Rice novel. My char in UO/GL was "Whited Sepulchre." That didn't fit in EVE. :(

Edited by: slothe on 01/11/2006 07:48:10 before moving up to cruisers id suggest training for assault frigates e.g the jaguar or wolf.
you will need to train frigate lvl 5 but that wont take too long.
atm minmater ass frigs are really good and capable of killing ships much bigger (up to battlecruisers).
id suggest training these before cruisers as they use the same skills as for rifters pretty much and you could train up for cruisers after.
see www.scrapheap-challenge.com for minmater setups.
the only downside is that they cost more than cruisers, but they are worth it. jaguars especially are great.
i can fly most gallente caldari and minmater ships and spend most time in and have more fun in jaguars atm.
just an idea. and of course for pvp only.

Slothe is spot on.
you'll have much more fun doing frig->asault frig->cruiser->heavy assault cruiser option and lets face it, specialization is the name of the game in this day and age

Stabber all the way!!!
A well fitted stabber will pwn an af every time. Af's are slow, have high mass and do pretty crappy damage no minmatar af should be able to beat a pvp fitted stabber.
The rupture is also an excelent (very high damage for t1) cruiser it gets teh same double damage bonus as a munnin and its resists are almost as good. its not as fast as the stabber but it is great in gangs

Rupture is by far the best t1 Cruiser in game, imo. Just need to know how to fit it, I see so many awful setups :| /DeadRow, True Core

Im interested in why so many people like the stabber and where they use it (0.0/empire) if their in gangs or solo. Tbh i dont see many frigates of any kind in low sec where as 0.0 is different. It just doesnt deal the damage and i just dont feel safe fitting t2 on such a fragile ship.

Then get a Raven. Problem solved.

I think both the Rupture and Stabber can serve you well. I think whichever one you should pick should depend on your preferred playstyle. My first few cruiser PVP kills came from the ruppy, and it's a sweet all-around ship. However I thought it was pretty slow, and I like the feeling of flying by the seat of your pants. Therefore, I fly the stabber now for pvp.
I love popping in on people in a belt, MWDing to them, and then lighting them up, and getting the heck outta dodge. Pack MWD, scram, and large shield ext. in mids and 3 gyros in lows, and you've got almost no tank, but are quite fast and packing a pretty decent punch
Definitely check out the scrapheap for good setups like someone else posted...

stabber has a lot of versatility, however against other good pvp fitted cruisers, you won't always win.
A Rupture can kill pretty much any other cruiser tho, in a 1v1.
I use both a lot for pvp, depending on my mood and the situation.

/me joins the one guy, that suggested Assault Frigates instead
i did it that way and it works realllly well - you just got to see the faces of your fellow cruiser freshmen, when they find their bigger=better argument totally beaten down. there's nothing more satisfying than prooving high-nosed people wrong, right? plus, minnies draw their strength from their (lack of) size

I think the Rupture is fantastic, specially when you get Cruiser V, Navigation V, High Speed Man IV, Evasive Man IV, Medium Projectiles V, Drones V, Drone Interfacing IV and Advanced Weapon Upgrades IV so you can fit/fly it right. :)
Oh, and Mechanic V, Hull Upgrades V....

With that argument Jim, you can say the same about just about any other ship in game
As people have said, It depends on what you want to do. I found my Rupture and Stabber hi slot loadouts were very similar, but the feel of the 2 ships is very different. If you are going to get hit alot, use a Rupoture. If you can rely on your speed to keep you out of trouble use the Stabber.
As for fitting T2 on a fragile ship, most Minmatar T2 (short of 1400mm Artillery II) is quite cheap (compared to others) and the Vagabond itself is a very fragile ship, but commands a very high price. Its strength comes form being fast, agile (stabbed up often), and being **** hard to hit if it isn't webbed. Think of it as an interceptor on 'roids. The Stabber can do a similar job, just not quite as well (it is weaker, fewer slots, and a bit slower)

Both are good ships. But the A/C Ruppy is more forgiving of any mistakes you make and so may serve you best as a learner. Stabber makes a good heavy tackler but IMHO is a bit light weight as a solo ship, not something that can be said for a 1600mm plated MWD Ruppie. Add to this the sheer sexieness of a 720 fitted Gankruppie in a gang, it is hard to choose anything else. This of course does not take into account flying style, if you prefer fast and fun, then the Stabber is probably the way to go. -----------------------------------------------

Stabber flys more like a Rifter,
Rupture at cruiser 5 does nearly the same dammage as a cyclone at BC 5. It's a really heavy ship, but I feel it needs more skillpoints to get the most out of it.
Mind you I lost my stabber to lag.

For PVE Rupture and it's better tank win, however for PVP my personal vote goes for the stabber. Vexors and Throaxes may overall be just mroe powerful, but nothing like orbiting at 15km just slowly pecking away until thier cap collapses while thier blasters can't reach you, and the drones went pop in first minute of the battle too :-).
