I was harvesting gas in a wormhole with my Prospect and this guy in a Nemesis kept showing up, trying to mess up my day. I was able to bug out each time (although the last time he managed to keep me from warping out, though I still burned out of there).
While harvesting I'm spamming the D-scan scan button. I want to be able to warp to a safe spot by hitting a key on my keyboard when an unfriendly shows up. Is it possible to set that up with a shortcut, script, macro, whatever you want to call it?
Thanks... |

yeah, scripts are a big nono here. keep the people and places open when your in a scary place is as good as it gets really.
i do think its a shame you cant have a bookmark in the selected item window thougn, particularly scince all the commands one would use there aply to them... o/ TO F&I WITH YOU!

Imagine scripting this game and it was allowed. It would be so good of a game I literally would not even have to play it. Just let the script do all the work. |

I keep the People & Places menu (Alt + E) on the top left of the screen with the bookmarks for the current WH expanded, everything else closed. Also, for your safe-spot bookmark, name it with an asterisk in the beginning (i.e. - I use *Safe) so it's pushed to the top of the list; this way you'll always know exactly where it is, regardless of how many bookmark's you've added. Often times, I'll flick the mouse over to that spot just in case, like a looking-over-your-shoulder mechanic. |

Personally I stick safespots in their own folder, if i know I may need to warp out at any given moment, people and places is open over that BM. I use the star (*) to denote a WH that takes me home, or toward home. For example: *ass - C2a
"ass" being the 3 letter part of the sig (I'm hilarious), C2a is the first C2 I found in the chain, and the star in front means I should jump that way to get home (useful when you've scouted out a whole chain).
Just another way to do things, everyone has their own methods. Good to hear you're living 'on the edge' in game though! Keep it up.

With the People & Places window, I find the radial menu to be very convenient.
Just click on your bookmark, wait a second or so (the delay is fully customizable in the esc menu), immediately select align or warp.
Very handy in PVP situations, for example when you're being chased and want to be aligned and warp out at the very last second, while blapping as much as you can before you gtfo.
You can use a celestial, but if you use a bookmarked safespot you can't be (immediately) chased.

The closest you can come is this:
- enable planets to show in our overview - when in trouble click a planet at random and press W? (warp to key) - while in warp find your bookmark and select it - as soon as you arrive at the planet click or press to warp to the bookmark
You can set whatever shortcut keys you want for single actions such as:
- move up or down in the overview list to select something - warp to, approach, align to, jump or dock, full speed, stop ship
You can almost get rid of the mouse and pilot with just the keyboard, but you are NOT allowed to combine what would be multiple clicks or multiple key presses into a single key press. That's considered a macro and is a bannable offense; they have server-side detection software for it and will catch you.
The official reason why is because it's a PVP game; the guy hunting you has to have a reasonable chance to catch you. He's doing the best to fight the interface so he can probe / find you and attack you, you're doing the best to fight the interface to escape. Imagine if he were able to automate his probing, one click and he's guaranteed to land right on top of you, probes don't even appear on d-scan because his macro uses them and recalls them so fast you don't even see them. |

Remember that you can change your default "warp to" distance. If you choose some random celestial, warp to it at 70km or 100km then warp straight off to your safe as Memphis suggested then in a small ship that aligns fast you are unlikely to get caught. Also, try to choose a destination that is close to a group of others - this will also make it more difficult for an attacker to see where you went.
Maybe one day our bookmarks options will include right click > add to overview ... but don't hold your breath

It's true, warping to planets is an issue, because interceptors and other small ships warp FASTER than the bigger ships, so the guy can guess where you're going, start warp after you, and arrive BEFORE you, ready to tackle you as soon as you get there.
If you can stay aligned to a planet, you can keep it selected in the overview, then it's even faster you just hit the WARP button. I don't think there's much time to select the perfect destination if you're trying to warp before he locks and scrams you. Also, if you have time to ponder which planet to pick, you also have time to right-click and warp to bookmark, so do that instead. |

PRO TIP: Warp to a cluster of celestials to increase chance of escaping. Not that single moon/belt/sun that everyone will see and can just warp at random ranges to catch you upon landing.

The way I do it now is keep the People and Places window open at the top left, like Minmatar Citizen, and I keep the mouse pointer sitting on top of the bookmark I'm interested in. It would be kinda cool if I could keep it highlighted instead and hit the 'D' key and go. As it is I'm keeping my eyes glued to Overview and D-Scan, waiting for someone, who's feeling ambitious to show up.

I thought I might generate some negative remarks by using the words 'script and macro.' Shoulda known better.
I don't want to make the game easier. The whole reason I gave Eve a try is because the games I used to play got too easy. They made leveling so fast and combat so easy the games got boring. I would like to keep Eve hard to play thank you very much. However my reflexes aren't what they used to be. |

Would be awesome if your bookmarks were selectable objects like asteroid belts, planets and stations are...
I've also found if you have your view in line with the run spot that the radial menu can give quick warp outs.
Something to practice a few times while you're in safe space first. |
