Ive decided to start mining again so I picked up two mining accounts. I often have Orca support fleeting with some friends so I don't think I really need to bring out the Orca myself. Question is: Should I use 2 Hulks and a Hauler or should I use 3 Macks/Retrievers. I figure if I use a hauler i would just use a MTU and haul stuff back and forth.
Is the isk/ph that much different using the Hulks and hauler? |

Max Orca Boosted Ore Yield: 69.97%
2 miners * (1 + 69.97%) = 3.33 effective miners 3 miners * (1 + 69.97%) = 5.00 effective miners
When in doubt about using a hauler, use Retrievers / Mackinaws instead. |

Also, think about anchoring a small POS tower with a compression array in the system you mine in. Doesn't cost that much, and makes hauling the mined ore, once compressed, a lot easier. You can put the ore from several dozen high sec belts into the ore hold of a single Orca that way. |

You really just need to figure out what works best for your playstyle. If you want the best IPH for your ore, then hulks + orca hauling is best.
When I mined, sometimes the hulk + hauler was just annoying. Easier to just pop back and forth with retrievers/macks. Although I was in null and can mining was how we did it and if you had hostiles come in system, they could just shoot the cans so that was another reason too. Another reason is if you need to get to other parts of the belt after you mine out an area, it's easier to do with warping to new bookmarks and since you are warping back and forth to pos/station you can do it easier.
I have a hauler time calculation in IPH (link below) that you can see how much you'll lose hauling or using the orca for that.
