So what's your pre-2000 movie for a Friday night?
Doesn't have to be a sci-fi (but obviously there's many good ones) and there may be pilots that are not even born at this time - to you - you don't know what you missed! - Until you watch these movies ofc!
I'll start out with two good ones.
Sci-fi best must see - Fifth Element
but also Say Anything
What's your suggestion for an evening?

The Mad Max trilogy is also good, although I have mixed feelings about the third one.

OMG Mad Max. I love those too.
I'll throw in Stanley Kubrick films as well. 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dr. Strangelove and Full Metal Jacket

Side note 2, Chribba, you mean pre-21st Century. Your thread title made me think "wtf, someone made a movie in 1899?". lol |

They did actually =P Dream Vision was made in 1899, but there are earlier movies. I cannot name any of them though.

John Carpenter's The Thing. Great ensemble cast and plenty of sci-fi/horror fun. One of the few remakes that is better than the original (IMHO). |

Combo:
Alien + Aliens + Alien Resurrection
Skip Alien 3, no amount of rewatching saves it.
73% of EVE characters stay in high security space. 62% of EVE subscribers barely PvP. 40% of all new accounts just "level up their Ravens". Probably that's why PvE content in EVE Online is sub-par and CCP is head over heels for PvP...

While I did enjoy 3 a lot, two kicks butt and is amazing, and the first I feel have overtaken 3 lately.
Resurrection is very nice as well and I enjoyed that a whole lot. I'd go 2, 4, 1, 3 - Prometheus OMG OMG OMG!

Just realised I forgot to add movies to my post, so here they are.
Aliens. The Rock. The Fifth Element. Armageddon(Yes, I like it, suck it) Men in Black. Air Force One. Con Air. RoboCop. Terminator 1+2. Predator 1+2. Back to the Future(all 3)
And I am sure I am missing a lot of titles... What? Friday is a long day =P

Hey Ya Sibyyl
Lost Boys is an excellent vampire movie, one of my favorites if I am to be honest.
I had to take time off from gaming in general. I have a super crazy work schedule, I split up with my ex so I had to go through house hunting and buying all by myself, all the while maintianing half custody of my daughter. The budget is now allowing for me to get back into the game as I was never serious enough to be able to plex myself with my sporadic gameplay. |

I'll add The Princess Bride, Blazing Saddles, Airplane, Brazil, and Twelve Monkeys.
Maybe also The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, The Last Starfighter, and E.T.
Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Total Recall, Conan the Barbarian. Just about any Ahnold movie really. Even the crappy ones are still fun.
Demolition Man was fun.
Or Cyborg or Timecop if you can dig some goofy low budget Van Damme flicks. |

Agree with the ones already listed...
The Empire Strikes Back Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Top Secret Young Frankenstein Blazing Saddles The Matrix -- (seriously, 1999) Jaws
We need to go deeper...
Altered States Brainstorm -- Natalie Wood's last movie Dark City
...
The African Queen North by Northwest
Edit: Blazing Saddles was mentioned by stoicfaux, but needs to be mentioned twice. It's that good. It's one of those movies that could not be made today.

Time to move the clock back. A few priceless classics:
Bringing up Baby (1938) Crazy and sophisticate, all in one package. You'll learn why everybody loved Kate (Hepburn) before our Kate. The three musketeeers (1948) Just the funniest adaptation ever, with Lana Turner making a gorgeous Milady de Winter. Adam's Rib (1949) More Kate, now with Spencer Tracy in a funny romantic comedy with interesting reads from our current mindset. Sabrina (1954) Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart in love. What could go wrong? Absolutely lovely film.
Enough for a friday evening, aye.

A lot of favorites already mentioned, so:
Dr. Strangelove The Ten Commandments - Great story, but for the CGI sets and huge production if nothing else. Examples: A BC Apocalypse Now Aguirre: The Wrath of God - Slow, no plot, but weird Platoon Rashomon Sling Blade The Blues Brothers

Kind of like they didn't have computer screens when they made 2001: A Space Odyssey so they just imagined them and hand-painted the computer graphics.

I had a sentence-malfunction when I posted. The fact that it's pre-CGI (1956) is what makes it so amazing. They had to hand-build those gigantic sets, make thousands of live human extras look hairy and sunburnt, and wrangle 100s of horses and other animals. And hand-paint hundreds of individual frames for the special effects.
P.S. For some torrid 1956 drama action from the same film, check this out. (Also, did they put a fake nipple under that translucent dress? Those tricky scammers....)

"Damn your eyes!" "Too late." By the way, your toon looks like it could have been a character in that film. Well done!
Also by the way, did you know that Aerosmith's song "Walk This Way" was inspired by this scene?
