Edited by: Niraco79 on 10/11/2006 08:27:33 First of all BoB was better in this fight. Thank you for learnin me some.
I would like to get a quick addition to those spoken by bizzare:
Lag description from someone who managed to load the enemy ships on his grid.
1. warp in on the gate. Client pimped with all goodies from these forums, settings as low as i can. Client in window mode and colour depth set to 16B(those backgroudns look awful but it help a lot). Overview with all object not selected.
2. 20 sec of seein the gate clear while i managed to get my enyo to align. Huge spike lag for 10 sec then all ships loaded on screen
3. Load the battle support overview. ~5 sec lag maybe less
4. Hearin 1 primary 1 secondary on TS started to search and target with a slideshow running (but manageble)
5. Target cycle finish, ship appear ready to shoot after 6-7 seconds. Ships is pod now but is targeted even i saw and clicked to target his ship.
6.Guns start to shoot after 10-15 sec
7. Second targeted ship appear on my screen as beein targeted and is 9 km from me
8. Pod is down in 2 guns cycles, but the damage appeared on pod when my guns actually stopped firing.
9. Second inty is 25km from me when the guns actually started to shoot. good i am in enyo i should hit this i thought. At this time i saw one yellow dotting.
10. 12 cycles from guns no damage on the inty.
11. Yellow turn red. no damage to my ship. I clicked warp away.
12. 20 sec pass, no warp 100 points damage on my ship and i saw that was an eagle shootin me
13. now i`m hit by some missiles even i see only eagle shootin on overview. enemy inty started to get damage, but my guns are not shootin(i stopped them to get on a new primary- it took me 30 sec to stop 125 tech 2 rails to shoot)
14. my shields are at 20% and my ship finnaly warped away (around 1 and a half minute after i clicked warp away).
My battle was for maximum 5 minutes while i managed to shoot 1 pod and one inty. I think i would rather died in that battle with no lag at all instead havin 5 minutes of powerpoint with ships.
This is my experience and represent my only personal point of view. ________________ THE MEGA NOOB |

I missed the gang leaving from AZN, so jumped in a Sabre and headed towards H8. I was just arriving as the fight was starting.
As I arrived at the gate to H8 I got a traffic control warning and a 2 minute countdown. Just then a BoB ship jumped through the gate. I panic as normal, expecting a sea of orange, but it's just a pod. try to dictor bubble it, but nothing launches and the pod warps off! Who knows if the module ever activated, as at that moment I jumped through the gate. (oops had left the autopilot on!). Was about 2 minutes for the screen to load even though there is nothing else on the grid at all. Try to get off the gate as quick as possible, but it takes a further 2+ mins to warp. (Luckily still nothing on overview). By this time the GF's are going up in local and it's all over. Complete and utter joke!
So from the losses I seen with my own eyes, my report says we won killing 1 ship for no losses |

The lag just killed what could have been a great fight.
jumped into h8 - emergency warped - warp back to gate - lagged out and then game crashes with weird blue screen. reboot try to log back in cant - think blow this its time to spend some time with the wife anyways.
look at bob killboards and find out BS popped.
just wish I had actually managed to shoot or do something
I really hope kali + the new new hardware allows us to actually do these big fleet fights.
props to bob + ascn for not flaming each other in this thread (so far) Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Agreed. Just jumping over to 3ppt so we could all "insta" to h8 and avoid the traffic queues and rubbish is worth having it on the field of play.
<3 our newest taxi service :D
If you don't mind answering this question based on operational security etc: How many ships can you jump with the titan? I have heard that whatever ships that are within a certain radius of the titan/jump gate can jump in?
To me, this is the whole point of the titan, not the doomsday weapon. And it seems that BoB are using it to transport the fleet instead of just insta popping cruisers .

I heard that the jump gate costs soomething like 100 strotium to use and lasts 10 minutes. During this time, any ship can freely jump without any additional cost.

Originally by: liquidism nice read man. and good op. kudos.
kill all hobbits
IF ASCN were to fall then where are the challenges left to BoB in EVE, other than perhaps D2, so give it 6 months time and it will be your turn next and then I will be laughing too (from my spot in Rens running missions for Brutor Tribe ).
Seriously though if ASCN ever falls I think that it will be it for me and eve.
I do not like BoB and would never dream of working for "the man" as a slave corp/alliance.
On various accounts I have fought against most groups in EVE and from my experiences BoB as they are, are in a different league.
Yes there are very good smaller corps like Outbreak, Omnisicient Order and CELES etc. and every group has its good players but when taken as a group the larger alliances are simply no comparison.
I think they spoil their reputation with the use of lame stuff like TS spies (nice job by the way getting one of our gangs to warp to a BoB POS last night with shouts over TS, we were laughing about it afterwards (it was either that or cry)) but if they don't care about their reputation compared to getting the 'win' then "so what" I guess.
In some ways the end of this war will be a good time to bow out from the game after what will be almost 3 years for me, fight as hard as you can for as long as you can and if it at the end you lost, well so be it, there if always a winner and a loser. If you win, then again, what is going to compare to that?
Once someone has "won EVE", then it will be time to move on I feel. If its BoB then I could wait for them to fall apart (possibly) or move to pirates of the carribean or whatever (if its true) but then that would be a pretty hollow victory.
If we cant take them out now at their peak then there is no beating them in the game - other alliances like ASCN and D2 and others are all going to be second tier alliances - and thats fine for some I guess but not for me, I would rather try my hand at something new.
So gl all and cya on the battlefield BoB, I still have 130 Ares to get through even if u have pwnd all my fitted BS

Nice write-up Bizarre. Refreshing to see an honest representation of events.
Anyway, good fight BoB.
Um.. you guys got slaughtered, and that's putting it lightly. How is that a good fight?
Good read though, probably the turning point in the one-sided war that makes PS an all bob (and bob slave corp) zone.
I just read this stuff and look at the awful killboard stats and wonder how so many people can be so bad?
Good luck to both sides of course.

They aren't, it only takes a couple of bad decisions to lead to these sort of situations when fighting someone very good at fleet pvp.
Individually there are a fair few decent pvpers in ASCN, its just there are a lot who are not so good or experienced and that can lead to mistakes and those mistakes lead to these kinds of situations.
Poor intell is often a source of issues. Someone thinking a scout said "4 or 5 BoB" in the next system instead of the actual "45 BoB" comes to mind....

The OP was a pretty fair write up afaik.
The best bit is my fame though :-D
2006.11.09 21:29 Attacked object: Minmatar Control Tower Current Shield Level: 98% Current Armor Integrity: 100% Current Hull Integrity: 100% Aggressing Pilot: Joram McRory Aggressing Pilot's Corporation: eXceed Inc. Aggressing Pilot's Alliance: Ascendant Frontier
We knew we were taking a huge risk when we took the dreads in (and yes, the fact my nicotene deprived body was sending me up the wall may have had an impact!), but we felt it was worth it. We had planned for just the one seige cycle. We gambled that with your fleet a fair way away, and engaging our fleet, that we would have time to get out. As it was you got into 3ptt in the nick of time.
My pulse rate went through the roof tbh. I was spaming warp to as I came out of seige and was pretty amazed that I got out! I assume your tacklers were lagged out, and only the POS scrammers were effective? My comiserations to the 3 dead dreads, that is a bit of a dent to the wallet of even a wealthy player
Local was smack free so well done BoB and GF all.

I wouldn't have put it quite like that
We thought we had a chance of knocking a few % off the shield. Who knows that might have been enough to make the difference later if the US TZ guys had another ***** at it?
But come on, this is a game remember option a) sit at POS, option b) Log Off, Option c) Have a bit of fun. c) is always going to be the winner for me.
Ok I got lucky, but had it been my dread gone pop - what is that? 2 weeks of mining to replace. As I said, it was a gamble.

I understand the freedom to express your opinion and the power of the web to cut and paste and make things pretty abusive rather than informative is much easier, however, I for one would greatly appreciate stories like this over the general "Everyone go attack BoB" and "Cyvok is a liar posts."

GG to you, Joram, option c all the way. I was quite annoyed that we missed the other 4 dreads, apparently our support were indeed lagged and couldn't activate their scrams.
Either that or they just sucked at that moment. I'm going for them sucking, seeing as they seem to be berating me on here atm.

edit: the other bit was from another unrelated post.
I can assure you we were laughing on TS (slighlty hysterically) at the sheer ridiculousness of what happened last night.
As for acting like a large alliance, well we are, i.e. being a bit disorganized and containing a huge range of players of varying abilities and experience.
Being big is not the same as being good, and away from the forums most people in ASCN are very aware of what our strength and weaknesses are.
We are very good at some things (like building things) and not so good at others (like fleet pvp).

May I ask you a question... you say you are good at building things and there is ample evidence of this in the number of outposts in ASCN space....
... if you are no good at fleet pvp, how did you expect to defend the things you built from entities like BoB?
