my set up is a Sony VAIO laptop (dangerously close waking up one morning at the bottom of a trash can) and 1 Dell 2007 monitor. i have my laptop set as my primary, with my desktop extending onto the second monitor. it works fine for everything BUT EVE. when i launch EVE from my primary, i get the log in screen fine. but when i actually log in the error occurs. It shuts off my laptop monitor, transfers the entire desktop onto the Dell monitor, and then eve goes unresponsive before even making it to the character selection screen. I have no idea whats going on. i just got the monitor this evening, I got two actually for my new system thats coming this weekend, but i would really like to figure this out.
thoughts?

Within EVE in settings there is usually two graphics cards listed. Top being primary, bottom being secondary. Try adjusting that.
You can override an errant monitor settings by using Evelauncher. Perhaps give that a shot? Linkage

Do you run EVE in full screen mode? Because on my desktop machine (two monitors connected in dulaview mode) when a software starts in fullscreen, the second monitor ALWAYS turns off. It is not EVE related stuff, all fullscreen programs do this.
Workaround solution: run EVE in windowed mode.

I run two monitors too, and while the second one flickers around a lot depending on the selected resolution of the full screen application it always shows at least a part of the desktop.
I'd say it's a gfx driver problem, try checking these.

Edited by: JeffieTheClam on 29/11/2006 10:19:47 i use duel monitors and found this to be the trick to make eve run fine with anything on the second monitor when using nvidia video cards.
Make sure both displays are running at the same resolution (example 1024x768) and at the same refresh rate (85hz+). (This is all done in display properties within windows).
I generally watch movies in PowerDVD and other stuff I've got from around the net in winamp. Anytime you click out of eve it will minimize and if you want to watch a movie make sure you maximize it prior to launching eve for best results.
I use a BFG Nvidia 6800 with a SGI Flatscreen and Sony Trinitron Flatscreen CRTs.

I use a cheap fx 5200 and run two clients on two screens with the one $12 board.
The check which screen gets better FPS (cntrl+alt+shft+M) run both in windowed mode and never let the edges overlap.
If you are constantly sufing something else or running an alt keep it the windows around 1024x764 on each. Seach for you Prefs.INI files and set your Ram to 1/2 you max ram. runs much better. (I set it to 4/5 of my ram to get mucho more performance.. works great)
